Top Five Smartphones Below Rs 15000
Here is the cream of the competition; the best five under 15000. All these phones very good and will have the functions which will serve the smartphone lovers well.
LG Optimus L7
Price: 15,900 to 14,900
It is unfair to include LG Optimus L7 in this list because in most of the places it is still above rs. 15000. But we have known that its price is dropping too fast. The most notable feature of LG Optimus L7 is Android ICS at a decent price. For those who do not know what this thing ICS is I must say some words. ICS or Ice Cream Sandwich or Android 4.0 is a super cool mobile operating system with great functionality looks and is very easy to use. The phone looks elegant but everybody is not a fan of a brick shaped phone. The phone sports a 4.3 inches display with 800x600 screen resolution which is good. The processor is an ARM v7 single core clocked at 1 GHz. There is 512 MB of RAM in it. Most of the apps and games will run quiet smoothly in it. But do not expect to play graphics heavy 3D games in it. The power of it is not sufficient for the highest end.
Specs:
Processor: 1GHz ARM v7, Single Core RAM: 512 MB
Memory: 4GB internal + SD card Camera: 5MP with LED flash, 480p video
OS: Android 4.0 ICS Battery: 1700 mAh
Nokia Lumia 710
Price: 13,800 to 15,000
The Nokia is, according to some, is a sinking ship, its phones are still good. It is very hard to beat Nokia in built quality of a phone. What Nokia lacks is nothing but its stubborn refusal to use Android. They are trying to beat Android and iOS with Windows Phone OS and Nokia Lumia 710 is one of its foot soldiers. Nokia Lumia 710 sports a superb hardware but has the old Nokia faults. Everybody knows that Nokia’s marketing strategy is to ship a phone with excellent hardware at low price and leaving some glaring faults in it. They will make two handsets with same hardware but one will be price 20,000 and the other will be at 12,000. Then the 12,000 phone will be crippled with some omissions.
Nokia Lumia 710 has also such ludicrous “marketing flaws”. It has a superb 3.7 inches display with 800x600 resolution. It is covered with gorilla glass. There is a 1.4 GHz Qualcomm Scorpion processor which makes the phone run very smooth. There is Windows Phone 7.5 or Mango OS in it. There is a 5MP camera with the capability of 720p video recording. All seems great except some great faults. It has a 1300 mAh battery which is not enough to run it for even a full day. If you use it pretty well then you will be out of juice too quick. The audio quality of this phone is also far from good.
Specs:
Processor: 1.4 GHz Qualcomm Scorpion, Single Core RAM: 512 MB
Memory: 8GB internal, no SD card support Camera: 5MP with LED flash, 720p video
OS: Windows phone 7.5 Battery: 1300 mAh
Sony Ericsson Xperia Ray
Price: 14,500
Sony Ericsson has always a special place in the smartphone market. They have their own fan base. The phones made by them are stylist and good performers. Sony Ericsson Xperia Ray is one of the best phones below Rs. 15,000 in India. It sports a 3.3 inches display with 854x480 screen resolution. The screen size is comparatively small but it is very crisp and clear. Thanks to the high pixel density and Sony mobile bravia engine the colors are luscious in this screen. There is an 8MP camera in it which shoots impressive pictures and can record at 720p. The processor is a 1GHz Scorpion and RAM is 512. The combo makes the phone run very smoothly. But, alas, there is big, bad fault. The internal memory is only 300MB. That means that you cannot install many apps and games in it.
Processor: 1GHz Qualcomm Scorpion, Single Core RAM: 512 MB
Memory: 300 MB internal, 4GB SD card included Camera: 5MP with LED flash, 720p video
OS: Android 2.3 Battery: 1300 mAh
Motorola Defy XT
Price: Rs.13,000
Motorola Defy is known for its ruggedness. The phone is waterproof and dust proof. If you use your phone rather roughly then Defy XT is for you. The phone is a good performer at decent price. Defy XT is an Android smartphone which has the gingerbread version of the Google made mobile operating system. The 3.7 inches screen with 854x480 pixels is good to look at. There is a 1GHz processor with 512 MB RAM in it. The main problem of Motorola Defy XT is that because of the protected hardy design the loudspeaker is not that loud.
Price: 14,000 to 13,500
Processor: 1GHz, Single Core RAM: 512 MB
Memory: 1GB internal + SD card support Camera: 5MP
OS: Android 2.3 Battery: 1650 mAh
Micromax A90S
Price: 13,000
Micromax is capturing the mid section smartphone market at a breakneck speed. They are offering handsets at amazing prices. Micromax A90S has some fantastic hardware at a very low price. This phone sports an AMOLED display, 4.3 inches in size and 800x480 pixels resolution. Though the display is not capable of producing 16M colors you would not notice it a bit. The quality is stunning. You cannot remove your eyes from the beauty of an AMOLED screen. There is an 8MP camera which shoots surprisingly well at daylight and not so well at night. It has a dual core processor which ensures smooth operations. Oh! I have forgotten that Micromax A90S has Android 4.0 ICS. Then why this phone is not the best below 15,000 rupees?
It is because the brand Micromax is still welcome for everybody. There are also allegations of supplying faulty products and poor customer care service against them.
Processor: 1GHz, Dual Core RAM: 512 MB
Memory: 4GB internal + SD card support Camera: 8MP
OS: Android 4.0 Battery: 1600 mAh

Nokia 700

Processor: 1GHz, Single Core RAM: 512 MB
Memory: 1GB internal + SD card support Camera: 5MP

I think this list is sufficient for you to chose your smartphone of choice below Rs. 15,000. I have tried to mix various types of smartphones in these two lists. Though the list is dominated by Android smartphones, windows phone, symbian and blackberry have also included.
