Top Touch Screen Windows 8 Laptops under $1,000

When looking for the best touch screen laptop under $1000 for you or someone else, looking through some of the best selling and top rated touch screen laptops is a good place to start.

Acer Aspire V5-571P-6642 15.6-Inch Touch Screen Laptop (Silky Silver)

Though most of us have become familiar with touch screen technology, first with the iPhones and later tablets, such as the iPad, users of laptops running on the MS Windows Platform did not have this option till windows 7, but quite frankly these first attempts weren't that great.

But now with the release of windows 8, touch screen ability is well integrated and is posed to really take off. With windows 8 taking advantage of the latest touch screen technology, designed for ten finger sensitivity, we can have most of our old familiar programs, plus the efficiency of a touch screen. Of course you will find some legacy programs were not made to take advantage of this new technology, but many of the more popular ones should be coming out with updated versions sooner rather then later.

To make this easier, we have broken up the current available touchscreen laptops into price ranges. It is amazing how many touch screen laptops are under $600 now, just about half a year ago there were hardly any touchscreen laptops under $800.

Buying the best touch screen laptop - Do you really need one & what to look for

In addition to what you would look for in any laptop that would fit your needs, here are some additional things to look for when buying a touch screen laptop.

  1. Do You need one?

Before jumping in, and just getting a touch screen laptop, the first thing you need to figure out, is if you will take advantage of the touch screen. Windows 8 works fine without the touch screen features, so upgrading your operating system, doesn't mean you also need to get a new touch screen laptop.

On the other hand if you are planning to buy a new laptop anyway, and want to start using windows 8, then I think it makes sense to go for a touch screen. The difference in price, depending on your requirements, is not that great, so putting in the extra money now and getting a touch screen now will save you from maybe realizing you need an earlier laptop upgrade in the near future.

  2. Has a Multi Touch Screen

While this one is obvious, the newer touch screen models are better then some of the models that came out about 2+ years ago. So wherever possible get a newer model.

Best Touch Screen Laptop Reviews

ASUS VivoBook X202E-DH31T 11.6-Inch Touch Laptop

Though small, the ASUS VivoBook X202E-DH31T 11.6-Inch Touch Laptop is hard to beat for the value. The touchscreen is very responsive and you won't be plagued by any missed touches or erratic behavior. The only complaint might be the cramped keyboard, but that has more to do with the size, so if this would bother you, you might want to try one of the larger models below.

One reviewer, D. Simone mentions a problem with the touchpad, and how to deal with it.

[...] At first I was a little aggravated with the touch pad but, I installed the drivers from Samsung's website that are supposed to be for a series 5 laptop. This laptop along with several others have the same Elan touch pad in them. Once you install this driver it is a night and day difference in the touchpad. [...]

Basically you need to download a driver from

Neutrals: The fan while not noisy, can be heard most of the time.

Cons: The touch pad can be a bit off, but you might have not much use of it with a touch screen available.

Another one with great reviews, the Acer Aspire V5-571P-6642 15.6-Inch Touch Screen Laptop comes with 6GB RAM and Intel HD Graphics 4000 which should make it perform reasonably well for gaming.

@anonymous: When I compiled this list, there were no good Samsung touchscreens under $1000, now there seems to be one, but I have not heard much about it.

Seems odd that not a single Samsung made the cut.
