How do I keep my friensds on facebook who play these games from taking up space on my facebook...

page? Do I need to block them?  I do not want to see the results continuously on my facebook page.  I hate wading through all that just to see regular posts from my other friend's. Please let me know what to do.  I do not really want to block them, but if that is what it takes to get rid of the running commentary of where they are at in thier Facebook online games.  Also I have not picked one of these games because I do not want to do the same thing to my friends's wall.  Can I play with out  the results posting for everyone to see?

You can block people, but you can also create groups of people and that will act like a filter.  I'm not a fan of these gaming notifications either.  Facebook should add a setting to block posting to your feed from apps you don't like.

Yes, you can play without posting a ton of notifications to people's walls. Most games...I'm not sure about all, but at least some of the most popular ones...give you the option to publish the notification or skip it when it comes up in the game.

As for not seeing the notifications of certain applications, mouse over the right-hand side of your news feed and click "hide" on a notification you don't want to see. You will then have the option to hide notifications from the person, or from the application...click to hide notifications from the application.
