Depends on which adapter you are asking about????
Power adapter - I would only replace if the current power adapter has failed.
Network / Wireless adapter - You could replace if failed or one might replace with a new adapter giving them higher speed and/or greater distance of coverage.

I have got a severe problem with my laptop as it is not giving any sorta display.
