Will an external optical drive let me install programs to my iMac?
Can I purchase an external optical drive for my iMac and use it to install programs etc. (the one on my iMac quit and it will cost $300 to have it replaced and an external drive is under $40.00)
As long as you have a place to plug it in such as a USB port or Firewire connection and your computer recognizes the optical drive you should have no problem installing your programs.
Bought the external drive and it works like a charm. $36.99 versus an estimated $300 repair. Thanks TechTrendy for the info.
