GoPro Hero3 Black Edition

New model with 4k video and built-in Wi-Fi now available

GoPro, the popular action camera manufacturer, is revamping its camera line. The company recently announced the addition of the new Hero3 Black Edition which will be available in November. The new model is 30% smaller and 25% lighter than the company's previous models, but comes packed with new features, including professional 4k cinema video, built-in Wi-Fi that enables remote control and live video preview, and 12 MP photo capture with 30fps burst.

Like the previous models, the new Hero3 Black Edition has a rugged housing that is waterproof to 197 feet (60 meters) and is compatible with all GoPro mounts for attaching to helmets, vehicles, or your body.

The company is also updating the other models in its action camera line. The 5 MP Hero HD and the 11 MP Hero2 will be replaced with the Hero3 White Edition and Hero3 Silver Edition, respectively. All three of the new models will feature built-in Wi-Fi.

GoPro released the new cameras on November 14, and you can now buy them directly from GoPro or find GoPro deals at Amazon.

The Hero3 Silver edition was also released in November. It doesn't offer the 4k cinema-quality video featured in the Black Edition, but it does have many of the other features, including built-in WI-Fi, 10 fps, time-lapse mode, 1080p video, and much more.
