Best Priced Laptop

Updated on October 20, 2014

My New HP Laptop

My Prehistoric PC

I needed some of the best laptop deals around. Immediately. Following is a listing of the best deals and best prices around.

For years on end, I have used my bulky old-timey desktop computer. We have been through crashes aplenty, both the little ones and twice major shutdowns that required professional attention. This second crash was very recent, wiped out all my documents, and also was a horrible shock to my system.

I have a laptop now and I am so pleased. And my desktop is working also. I am computer wealthy beyond all measure.

Ok then.

On My Way To a Laptop

When it comes to machines and making them work, I do not possess a lot of know how. I push the button, I get results, if not, frustration rapidly followed by despair. No muss, no fuss.

Do not despair! Last time I saw my sister-in-law, she said check out Walmarts for a laptop. Specifically $300.00 for a Compaq Presario. She had just gotten one and loved it. This was in 2011.

Now I love mine too. And it's 2 years old. Hella machine!

Geek this buddy!

I love this one, and please remember, Santa.

Only one brief word of warning - if you like to play games, you will need a computer with more memory and stuff like that. Don't forget, you heard it here first.

For Nerds Like Us

Thank you for visiting One Sweet Laptop. Shopping can be a horrifying experience if you are not into it. Or if you have no money, honey.

I have two dinosaur pcs - one is used for a digital photo frame, the other is a great backup drive AND grandkid computer. I just inherited one of their old computers for the same purpose. And if I have 3 over, one can use my MacBook which is my favorite! Old ones are grand to keep, and new ones are SOOO much faster due to all the hardware and software updates. Thanks for the info. :)

So funny...I was just trying to get my old DELL up and running and it looks like a dinosaur compared to my one-year old Asus! :) I highly recommend Asus...super high quality and sturdy...I have 5 kids, I should know! Mine has been knocked on the floor more than once and just keeps on ticking! You have some great deals here...maybe someday I'll look into the Macbooks. I know some freelancers that swear by them.

I am still debating if I want a laptop or not.

Laptops are definitely much more convenient than desktops. I'll probably treat myself to a new one later this year.

I still prefer my desktop but will probably leap onto a laptop soon. I really like the HP product line so will probably stay with HP when I finally decide to get my first laptop.

I am also due for a new laptop. Mine that I purchased used has finally burned itself out so next year I will be laptop shopping. Great news about working online is that a new computer is a business expense. Yeah!

So is the one you got still available at Walmart? I need a new one at lowest cost possible. :)

I splurged on a Toshiba with a back-lit keyboard. I can sit in a semi-dark living room, keeping half an eye on the TV and see what I'm typing at the same time!

I gave away my first laptop from 2002, but I still have my very first personal desktop PC from 1996 stored in my office - I loved Robbie so much, he worked like a dog just like I did and earned me a fortune over our many years together...

I kept him going as one of our office spare computers until I finally had to retire him when his 2 GB of memory could not take any new upgrades of email or any other software. But he still has a home with me, no rubbish tip for him!

Right now, I have a (very good, knock on wood) desktop and a (not so great but okay) netbook. Eventually, I'd like to upgrade the netbook to a laptop, but I'll probably wait till one or the other (hopefully just the netbook) dies before spending the money.

@CCGAL: My laptop is 4 1/2 years old and still running XP Pro. I deliberately had that installed rather than Vista because Vista requires more resources and has been fairly buggy. It still works well, a bit short of memory these days though.

Don't forget to back this one up. If your old desktop is working fine as well, you can attach a USB Hard Drive to it and backup the laptop to it over your wireless network as well, that's what I do.

@CCGAL: Try not to back yourself into a corner, check the library hours, they've got computers too.

Take my advice and do it before the crash, you'll avoid a lot of trauma!

I use an HP Pavilion dv9500 - it's about 5 or 6 years old by now, and I'm still using Windows Vista. I have worn some of the letters off of the keyboard and I've filled up the hard drive. Probably ought to start planning on purchasing a new one soon. Glad to hear you have one that's working well for you!

Great selection of laptops, and you sound very computer-comfortable right now! Here's hoping for a long life for both desktop and laptop! Thanks for sharing.
