The year 2012 was by my ratings the most anticipated year ever apart from the Millenium. The excitement and optimism that came with the entrance of this year was so high that it held a lot of prospect for everyone. As I write this, we are a few hours away from experiencing another new year. That year 2012 is finally rolling out.

Economically, politically, socially and educationally, a lot of things happened this year in the West African country of Nigeria. Some of the news went outside the shores of the country while others were basically internal stories. Nigerians, usually known as "the happiest people on earth" went through ups and downs. A lot of lives were lost, there were times of excitement, setbacks and a lot more.
