Mysterious U.S. Crop Circles

Updated on December 20, 2015

The first US crop circle that appeared in North Carolina happened ten years ago back in 2005. It was reported on June 12th at Green Mountain in Yancey County, North Carolina. Crop circles haven't slowed down one little bit since. More often then you think crop circles are destroyed and mowed down by the land owner before they can be photographed by authorities. This is probably to protect their private property from being destroyed by potential sight seers. Crop circles are areas of plants flattened into sizable patterns, and are often found in fields which are growing crops like wheat and corn. Crop circles are occurring all over the world. In the mid 1970s crop circles started becoming more widely noticed in the fields of southern England. There's also documentation indicating that crop circles have been appearing for centuries, and were reported back as early as the 16th and 17th centuries. By the late 1980s crop circles started to become more global, eventually debuting in the USA as well. Although today some modern crop formations are known to have been mechanically flattened by people, scientific research has also established that there are crop circles which were not caused by pranks with planks. Today some crop circles have became a more elaborate forming pattern of circles known as a pictogram, which sometimes can reach an enormous length.

Crop Circles may not necessarily be front page news, but they are certainly newsworthy on local television news channels, and morning radio programs. Crop circles in the USA are normally found on private property, and permission from the landowner is often required to enter the area. But that wasn't the case in this North Carolina sighting. The latest crop circle sighting had thousands of people in North Carolina wondering if they have a supernatural incident on their hands. The giant crop circle which was sighted on a farm in a wheat field was first reported on by the local fox news channel on May 31st 2015. The story was passed onto them by a woman who noticed it as she drove by, and it also was visible by countless drivers passing by on the nearby country road. What exactly was this giant crop circle that was found in North Carolina, and is the truth about it out there somewhere? There are experts who already have a scientific explanation for this one particular crop circle that’s not so out of this world. They say that with the transition period at this time of the year in June that the wheat is drying out, and the head of the wheat plant can't support the additional weight. The wheat plant is much taller and it falls over with the additional grain on top of it. I for one after visiting the site in person think that this entire explanation is a complete bunch of bull. Now if this was true then why doesn't the whole entire field of wheat fall over, and not just one little circle of an area of wheat fall over? It also is note worthy that there are dozens of identical wheat fields on this same section of roadway, and not one of those other fields show any damage to them at all. There may not be a fancy design in this North Carolina crop circle, but it's safe to say that something big flattened all of that wheat into this circle. I would like to emphasize that this crop circle encompasses a very big area inside of the wheat field. Since crop circles have been around for centuries, then why does it take so long for science to validate crop circles? For those who believe the truth is still out there somewhere then it's been recommended to reboot the TV series The X-Files to possibly find out the truth. Mean while I'm going to contact some different crop circle organizations in the United Kingdom to get their opinion. For others maybe the answer is up in the stars somewhere, and that's my take on TheHoleStory about this mysterious crop circle in the great state of North Carolina.

A short time later once the grain was harvested from the wheat plants, the remaining loose wheat stalks were bailed into square bails of hay leaving absolutely no trace what so ever of the original crop circle.

Shortly after the remaining loose wheat stalks were bailed into square bails of hay the field started to come to life once again. We'll just have to wait and see if another crop circle pops up again some day down the road.

I took this photograph on November 7th 2015. This next generation of crops that was planted after the crop circle was cut down now appears to be ready for harvest as well. However for some strange reason the farmer doesn't seem to be in a hurry now.

This photograph was taken sometime in the middle of December 2015 of the same field after the farmer finally decided to perform the second cutting and harvesting.

Very useful and interesting topic THS. Some hole circles have been proved to be pranks and man made but far more remain unexplained. I like to keep an open mind about these unexplained phenomena, but the authorities aren't likely to willingly reveal the truth, even if they know it.

I think your story is very interesting and well written but I have no answer. It would be intersting to know the truth though

Justa man made art. Still, they can be quite beautiful.

      Blessings to you.

This topic fascinates me. If wheat is simply "falling down" into such amazing patterns, then wheat is smarter than I thought it was.

Add Your Comment…Saw the circle in Green Mountain NC. Very mysterious and created a weird feeling as if something or some one was around. The cemetery that was beside the circle, made the area seem pulled together. Scary ---YES. Wanted to walk in the circle but was reluctant of maybe a higher power control. Would like more new info on this sighting if its available.

I'm skeptical of crop circles, but this is a pretty intriguing case. Have there been any new updates the past couple of months?

No Tristan there haven't been anymore updates on this particular crop circle since the farmer decided to plow the field.

I'm a believer. I don't think we're alone in the universe. I do, however, struggle with understanding why intelligent life would communicate in subtle code. It would be like leaving a secret message and a decoder ring with an infant. There's no hope the child will understand.

Always a fascinating read on this subject; my favourite book on the subject of Crop Circles is by Jenny Randles, simply called "Crop Circles" and well worth the read, with a large amount of aerial photography in full colour. It actually makes a very good scientific study of the phenomena also without claiming what causes them, offering several thought-provoking ideas.
