5 Things To Do On A Rainy Day in Manchester
How To Spend Your Rainy Day In Manchester
If you're thinking of spending some time in Manchester then it's always worth having a contingency plan for if it's likely to rain!
Rain and fun don't usually mix which is a shame based upon how much rain we get in Manchester! I'm going to resolve that (the fun issue - sadly not the rain)!
You see, I've spent many a time in Manchester. I've never lived there, but one of my closest friends did. And I often went to visit. More often than not... it rained.
So I understand the frustration of how a rainy day can ruin what is expected to be a fantastic day out!
Here are my list of ideas for turning your rainy Manchester day into a fun, exciting and cheery experience!

#1 Take The Marble Brewery Tour

Have you heard of Marble Brewery before? If not, I strongly recommend you have a quick read about the Manchester micro-brewery's wikipedia page.
Any phrase that contains the words FREE and BEER is one that I find specifically hard to ignore, so having a tour a Marble Brewery is a great way to spend some rainy hours!
If you book in advance, the Marble Brewery offer free informal tours of their brewery which makes an interesting couple of hours viewing! And why not try some of the 15+ flavours of beers that they brew in the heart of the city centre!
Either way, it's something completely different and interesting whilst you're waiting for the sun!

#2 Indoor Winter Sports - Chill Factore Manchester
Let's face it, if weather was a family, rain would be the naughty child. No one particularly enjoys it, but you put up with it because.. well, you have to! On the contrary, snow and sun are often both welcomed with open arms!
So escape the rain and go for something a bit more extreme... try your hand at skiing or snowboarding at the UK's largest indoor slope! Even if you've never done it before, it's a great feeling once you've covered the basics. There's always some reasonably priced lessons available to you as well to help you improve!
Check out this video of some of the fun you could be having at Chill Factore instead of watching the rain pitter patter from your window!
#3 Old Trafford Tour - Explore The Magical Football Stadium
It's not the most obvious of rainy day suggestions (as part of the tour is outside and uncovered) - but I went on a tour around Old Trafford when it was a horrible/miserable day... and I LOVED it (I'm not a Man Utd fan either!)
There is SO how history at Old Trafford surrounding the most successful football team in the UK. I would STRONGLY recommend you seeing this magnificent stadium in all it's unseen glory on one of the reasonably priced tours that Manchester United have to offer.
Plus, you'd barely be in the rain much anyway. Take a look at a video I found on YouTube of someone on the tour themselves and make your own judgement to just how good it is!

#4 Visit Manchester Art Gallery

It might not be everyone's cup of tea, but for some, art can be a liberating experience. Especially when it's FREE.
That's right, Manchester Art Gallery offers free entry to all to explore their vast range of spectacular Victorian and contemporary art.
I'd strongly recommend having a look around - as let's face it, what exactly have you got to lose? It's FREE!!
#5 Chill Out In The Vermilion Restaurant and Cinnabar - Great Food / Drink Dining Experience in Manchester
Perhaps you feel like going out to 'chillax' for a while? Well well well, you're in luck! The perfect solution for spending a few hours in the ultimate Asian experience!
The Vermilion Restaurant and Cinnabar spent £4.5million on making their 3 storey bar and restaurant one of the most attractive venues in the UK. Offering a fine selection of Asian food and ambiance, it's extremely hard to find something wrong with this place!
The prices can be a little on the high side but provided you don't spend every rainy day (364 days of the UK year!) in there - then your visits to the Vermilion will be experiences to treasure and remember for a long time!
