The Greenwood Neighborhood - Seattle, WA 98117

Updated on October 25, 2013

Welcome to Greenwood!

Located in the northwest section of Seattle, the Greenwood neighborhood is a great place to live! Homes are still decently-priced, and frequently have yards and trees. The area has lots of shops and businesses, and good sidewalks, making it easy to walk or bike for day-to-day errands or an evening out. Houses in this area tend to have both front and back yards, and a lot of people garden in both areas. Kids and pets abound!

I've lived in this area for over five years now and I'm working to make this lens a great local guide. Come explore and enjoy my neighborhood with me! If you see "Rae Recommends!" next to an entry, it means I really like that business and use their services myself.

Welcome to Greenwood!

If there's one thing that's argued about here, it's "what are the boundaries that form the Greenwood neighborhood?" I'm using the map shown above as my guideline. What you are looking at is essentially Greenwood Avenue, from about N 65th St to N 90th St.

I live three blocks West of the blue section shown above, so that entire map is my main "stomping ground." Businesses and services are grouped by category below.

Location, Location, Location!

It's easy to walk or bike for daily errands to nearby shops and businesses, and getting to restaurants or pubs for an enjoyable evening is just as simple!

Coffee

Like most of Seattle, the neighborhood has plenty of little coffee shops. We're lucky in that there are so many independent ones and not big chains.

Phinney Farmer's Market - 2012 Season runs June to October

Starting the first Friday in June and running until the beginning of October is the fabulous Phinney Farmer's Market. The market is held every Friday from 3pm to 7pm in the lower parking lot of the Phinney Neighborhood Association. Beat the weekend rush and get some of the freshest food in town direct from the farmers, fishermen and gardeners who produce it! Free parking and lots of interesting stuff for kids. Well-behaved and leashed dogs are welcome.

If you've got a question about the neighborhood, you can ask it here and I'll answer as best I can. Other comments and feedback welcome too!
