On Monday 29th of October ,2012 i left my country to go Barbados for a mini vacation of six days with my mother. We arrived at Grantley Adams International airport 9:05 pm sharp. After disembarking the plane we hurried to get through customs to be cleared in order to get a taxi quickly , it was already night time and we have never been to Barbados before so we just wanted to hit the streets to reach our destination.

There were taxis outside of the airport awaiting our arrival patiently, i told one of the drivers where we were going and he said he's heading in that direction so we boarded the taxi about 9:20pm and arrived at "Tropical Winds Apartment Hotel " fifteen minutes later. The receptionist at the hotel was very pleasant and welcomed us and shortly after we were shown to our rooms, which was exceptionally cleaned and just as i saw it on the internet. It was a studio apartment more like a bachelor's quarter but very nice and had everything we needed in it.

The next morning after having breakfast at the hotel's restaurant we got ready to go to the town. There are buses passing outside of the hotel very often , we inquired how to get to town and the receptionist wrote down the kind of bus we should take and so we did. The drive was a bit lenghty like over an hour, the roads we very ruff some paths. On the way we saw beautiful beaches of three colours, a light blue, a torquoise and and aqua blue mixed together, the sand was white and pretty . There were some lovely hotels along the way, finally we reached Bridge Town and we started walking towards the shopping area.

Barbados was very expensive for me as a tourist because their money is three times higher than my countries own. I was unable to buy much of anything i bought mostly souvenirs , most of my money went into food . For the people who's living their the cost of living doesn't seem very high for them. Anyways their shopping area was nice and it had alot of duty free items which was a great help.

The beaches were very enticing but i am not really a beach or pool person i prefer just watch or take pictures. There are some really nice houses and well cut lawns in Barbados and the roads are very clean, no rubbish thrown all over, the people in general was very mannerly and pleasant. I mostly stayed at the hotel and relaxed because the bus drive was taking to long and its like the buses never fulls, the driver picks up every ants he sees on the road, so its very cluster - phobic in there.

I will like to return , but this time i will be more prepared. Staying closer to the town is definitely and option and hiring a taxi instead of getting on those ridiculous buses.

Oh one more thing before i go i bought my ticket on expedia.com which has great all-inclusive deals etc. You should try it, its much cheaper than the airline fees anyway.
