What is Cash Generator
Cash Generator is a second hand and pawn brokers store. They buy and sell all manner of home electrical items, bikes, media, phones, jewellery, amongst other items. As well as cashing cheques, giving short term loans and currency exchange. There are a number of these franchised chain stores dotted all around the UK and they can be great for second hand household items at discounted prices. Each store is different and stocks different items so you can never be sure what you will find.
This is a review of the Albany Road Cash Generator Store in Cardiff. Our local store and the one we have used most often, although we have tried a few of the other stores in the area.
Our Experience of Albany Road Cash Generator
We have been using this Cash Generator for 7 years now, and find it really good compared to others we have been to, and other second hand electrical places.
I can't comment on the pawn brokers side as we have never sold anything to them we purely use it to purchase certain stuff.
We have bought (I'm embarassed to say) probably over 200 DVD's from here over the years! We are big film buffs and the prices and selection here are amazing - 15 for £15?!?! Plus if you check regularly, and spend the time serching the piles they have there you will often find some pretty new films and some great old classics. We have often found collectors additions in special cases or tins amongst it all. Also if you have any trouble with a disc they will happily swap it for another, without any complaints.
Granted 75% of the items there are a bit rough, and sometimes over priced, but amongst it all you can sometimes find a bargain to be had! My latest purchase was a brand new mint green Diana F+ camera still sealed in the box for £20, instead of the £50 it is worth from Urban Outfitters. Bargain!!
My husband has had a number of sound electronics over the years and we even have a small cheap flat screen for the bedroom which only cost £35 and is perfect.
The staff are also really chatty and helpful, especially Mikey who often ends up having an indepth discussion with my hubby about new electrical gadgets and boys toys. If you get to know them and let them know if you are after something specific they will be happy to keep an eye out for you and let you know if it ever comes in stock.
The Daisy Rating
Always worth a look for DVD's and to serch for a quick bargain, just don't expect to always find something as you will usually leave empty handed. Be prepared to hunt around for a while if your after DVD's. Get to know the staff, they are friendly and will always help if they can.
