Alta Vista Botanical Gardens in Vista, California
Things You Don't Want to Miss Out On...
I happened to stumble upon the Alta Vista Botanical Gardens one day when the family and myself were going to pick up a compound bow we were looking to purchase from the Facebook Marketplace. When we had arrived to pick up the compound bow, we asked the seller what there was to do around the area and she suggested this gem of a garden right down the road, and so we found ourselves on our way there immediately. We were not disappointed by any means.
All the Cool Art
By far, my most favorite features in the garden were the sculptures and art scattered throughout. Whether you're at the entrance with the dragon, or you've made your way to the spice garden with the funny culinary sculpture people, you'll find a piece that speaks to you. The art within the garden is really quite eclectic, some of it is even like a modern industrial feel where they have made play tunnels out of concrete piping for kids and youthful spirits to crawl through.
If the faux Easter Island heads don't make you laugh then we can't be friends!
Babbling Brook and Other Gorgeous Scenery
What makes this place so special, to me at least, is that it is centered in some of the most beautiful mountain farm country in SoCal. As you walk through the gardens, past the babbling brook, and onto the terrace overlooking the valley you start to get a real sense of comfort and peace. You get used to the hustle and bustle of daily life, but taking a seat next to the babbling brook or on a stump under the big tree makes all of that stress and noise fade into the background of your mind.
Though the walk throughout the gardens is a bit strenuous at select points, just about anyone can make it through so long as they pace themselves and remain vigilant on the uneven dirt paths.
Come and Relax!
If you ever find yourself down in SoCal, make this lovely little garden a must-see. Especially if you are nearing the end of your stay and want to relax before the big trip home, you couldn't find a better place to come for a quiet retreat and reflection. Perhaps you may even find a plant in the gardens you wish to take home, or cultivate yourself? If so, the kind staff are always wandering about the gardens ready and willing to answer your questions and provide you with what you seek.
Should you wish to support or donate to the gardens, or would like to know more you should come and visit! Hopefully I see you out there soon!
