For the next few minutes, don't think about anything other than what you read on this page. Try to focus as much as you can, but don't strain yourself. You are going to spend time with yourself in a rainforest.

Let's Get Started

A rickety old bus climbs up a hill en route to its final destination: a little agricultural village on the other side, on the edge of a vast rain forest teeming with wildlife and very special moments. The landscape here is open woodland, but, in an hour or two, a paradise awaits.

The bus makes a short stop at a small shed by the side of the road and the few people who have been travelling in it filter out to have some refreshments. You are among them.

Take a look at where you are

The shed with the bus parked in front of it. As you can see, the hill road is more a dirt track than a road. Hardly anyone travels this way.

A few minutes later, the journey resumes. The slope becomes steeper, and the vegetation changes. You can feel the cold wind on your face. You are excited and can't wait to reach your destination. You know it's going to be absolutely special!

As the elevation increases, the vegetation changes. Sparse woodland gives way to a misty cloud forest. You are thrilled. Observing nature is one of the greatest and oldest pleasures mankind has known!

The Village

And finally, the bus reaches its destination : the little village. A very small village in fact. One with just a handful of houses. People here make a living working on the fields, cultivating crops that are totally natural. You put your backpack in a shed. This will be your base for a while. You take a small nap, then wash your face at a basin. The water is so chill!

Take a look at the shed where you will stay.

Small and cozy, and in a very remote place where people are free from greed, and totally in love with nature!

The Trek of a Lifetime

You then begin the trek you've been waiting to do since forever. A trek that will change your perception of the world. A trek that will make you feel new! A very special person joins you : the love of your life. You walk hand in hand through beautiful and quaint fields towards the forest. You are about to enter another world! God, this is just unbelievable and unreal!

Only a few minutes lie between you and the experience of a lifetime. You cross the last few fields.

You are on the edge of the rain forest. Only a few minutes separate you and paradise!

And then, you are into the jungle!

Being in a real forest is a privilege few people are able to afford these days, especially because the forests of the world are being destroyed at a very rapid rate.

A colourful Macaw squawks and protests your invasion, totally unaware of the fact that you are a friend and not an enemy. You are already in love with the place and will do everything within your power to ensure that it stays pristine forever, and a perpetual refuge to seekers of peace like you.

The forest is full of gently gurgling streams. Now you know why the water the villagers drink is so sweet : it comes from a pristine forest! You bend down, cup your hands, and drink till you are filled and energized. The love of your life does likewise.

The rain forest is a water-soaked sponge. It stores water that is used by millions of people for their dally needs.

And soon, the hilly terrain gives way to a gigantic plain covered in a forest that seems to have no end. The trees here are much more dense than those near the village. You literally have to push your way through the vegetation. You realize now why the place is so sparsely populated. It is inaccessible. Only native animals would be able to move through the dense growth.

Lessons for Life

You reach another stream. This one is slow moving. You are awestruck at how remote this place is. It's not on any tourist's map. It's just so mysterious! You are the first person to ever set foot here. You and your love. And you realize that the world still has unexplored places, even in the age of the internet and globalization.

You realize that this moment is special. You stop and survey the area.

You wonder if a Jaguar will suddenly sneak up and pounce on you, and you try to convince yourself that this will not happen - the Jaguar probably has enough and more prey in this forest teeming with life.

What if a Green Anaconda wraps itself around your leg? What if an army of ants decides you are prey? What if you inadvertently touch the skin of a Poison Dark Frog? What if...

And you come to another realization; one that will stay with you for the rest of your life; the realization that nothing in this world is set in stone. Everything is liable to change. You may be in the pink of health and thriving one moment, and dead the next. Someone you love may die all of a sudden. Someone who you've always trusted as being mature and immensely wise may make a foolish statement that will sully his reputation forever. Nothing is certain.

A Surprise!

Knowing that you cannot go much further into the forest without totally losing your way, you decide to head back. You hardly want to, but you know that's the sensible thing to do. You wait a minute, still hesitating, but your love convinces you, and you both head back in the direction you came from, towards the quaint little village where people have lived in harmony with nature for a long time.

On your way back, as you near a stream, you hear splashing in the water. You know for sure that people don't come here. It definitely must be an animal! Both of you stand behind a huge tree and look. What you see fills with a sense of awe - two young Jaguars are having a little time of entertainment in the water!

Even animals have the concept of family!

The last thing you want is to disturb them and make them aware of your presence, so you continue to wait; you and the love of your life; behind the huge tree. After what seems like an eternity, the Jaguars move away, hardly pleased to leave the water, in all likelihood, to meet their mother and trouble her to bring them a meal.

It's getting darker, and the rain forest at nighttime is filled with all sorts of creepy crawlies. You must move back to camp fast! You quicken your pace and carry on, hand in hand with the love of your life.
