Ladakh
Ladakh means the land of high passes. It is located in the leh district of Jammu and Kashmir, India. Ladakh remains covered in snow and inaccessible by land most part of the year. If you are a mountain lover this is the place for you. The colorful gompas have attracted many Buddhists here. Places worth a visit:
Pangong lake one of the largest salt water lakes at an altitude of 5000 metres approx, is a must visit in Leh, but don’t expect boating facility. Only one third of the lake is in India with two third being in China. This is a place where you can relax, rejuvenate and enjoy with your partner. It is also known as “Little Tibet”, since it plays host to large number of Tibetan festivals. If you are planning to travel by road, it is advisable to check if it is open before proceeding.
Magnetic Hill located in ladakh is place where the landscape and surroundings create an illusion that you are going uphill when you actually are going downhill.
Khardung La is arguably the highest motorable pass in the world and is covered in snow throughout the year.
Best season to visit: June until September
