Ladakh means the land of high passes. It is located in the leh district of Jammu and Kashmir, India. Ladakh remains covered in snow and inaccessible by land most part of the year. Pangong lake one of the largest salt water lakes at an altitude of 5000 metres approx, is a must visit in Leh, but don’t expect boating facility. It is also known as “Little Tibet”, since it plays host to large number of Tibetan festivals. If you are planning to travel by road, it is advisable to check if it is open before proceeding.

Khardung La is arguably the highest motorable pass in the world and is covered in snow throughout the year.
