Where to buy Trix cereal in Canada

Updated on May 16, 2010

This is a product general mills either discontinued in Canada, or had stopped receiving orders for from supermarkets. Their commercials also stopped. Trix is a sugary cereal which features a rabbit in their advertising, who is always trying to take the crunchy goodness away from children. He almost never succeeds, with a popular saying "Silly Rabbit, Trix are for kids!"

So, if you're looking at this, you're probably wondering one question: Where can I buy Trix cereal in Canada? It's unfortunately not that easy, as you'll probably never run into anywhere that carries it. The odd corner store or specialty shop might have some, but there's not a lot of them around. You should also be careful at the corner stores - their Trix cereal could be years old! Always check the expiration dates which are usually printed on the top of the box.

Recently Trix came out with a different shape. It's no longer the crunch shapes of fruit people are familiar with. General Mills replaced their production with little colored balls. They have the same taste however, but are a lot less fun to look at and eat. Here is a picture of their recent box art:

There are many other delicious items branded to this you won't be able to find in Canada. For example, there are Trix fruit snacks! I'm not sure who makes them. Yoplait makes Trix yogurt. These are small little containers of cotton candy, and one other flavor, available in supermarket shelves. Walmart was carrying them the last time I visited the United States.

There's only one easy way to get Trix in Canada. Buy it from the USA or find someone else to. You could try locating a grocery store or wholesaler (if you have a large order) that can ship it across the border. Know any friends crossing over? Have them stop at a supermarket and grab a few boxes for you. If you live near the border in a town like Sault St. Marie it will be easy to just hop across yourself and grab some.

      Worst advice ever…

In a nutshell: Trix is a cereal available only in the US, but how do you get them in Canada? Go to the US.

      Thanks, Captain Obvious.

The only way to get it, is to have it shipped over the border. Try ebay or amazon. Really wish it was more available!

How old is this article? In southern Ontario, a person can buy Trix at almost any store, including convenience stores. I don't understand this posting at all.

I've read this article about 4 times now, and every time it angers me that he calls the article "Where to buy Trix cereal in Canada" when his only suggestion is to check 'specialty shops' and to 'check the boxes'. And then he deviates further into how the cereal is shaped differently than it used to, all before he decides to reveal that he is actually, literally, functionally retarded by delving into the useless fact that there are Trix fruit snacks, though he doesn't know who makes them.

      Truly fine reporting...

The US doesn't have Universal Healthcare. You don't know what you are talking about.

Obamacare (as it's called) just requires that (1) everyone has health insurance and (2) that they can get the same coverage as politicians. It's not free, and it's not cheap.

and yeah Trix were kind of gross to begin with. Now they aren't even shaped right. Bring me Jack in the Box and then we'll talk.

I hate Canada with a passion these days. Ever since the early 00's Canada has cut off Canadian from nearly all major great brands of food we all enjoyed in the 90's. This country is just not worth living in any more, U.S. has universal health care now as well. Why is any body staying in this horrible oppressing country. Canada is the #1 human rights hipocrisy in the World. It's time Canadians stand up to their government and leave the country.

Almost seems like too much work for a cereal. Next time I'm in the states I'll stop at a walmart though. I need to revisit my youth a little bit :P
