Markets - Chatuchak, Bangkok
I have a love hate relationship for this market..i love the variety it offers, cheap bargains and you could find really really interesting wares in here. I got to know of this market when i followed a friend who was in the rag trade here when she was stocking up on her supplies.
What I disliked about the market is that it can get really humid and hot and the crowd is unbelievable. Certain paths can be jam pack with people and you could be rubbing against sweaty bodies while also fearing that a pick pocket is nearby eyeing on your vulnerability.
But non the less, this market is a must see for the shopaholics and anyone visiting Bangkok, Thailand.

Chaktuchak is also known as the weekend market has approximately 15,000 stalls covering almost 35 acres and is divided into 27 sections. Each weekend, an estimate of 200,000 visitors will visit the market and out of which 30% are expected to be tourist / foreigners.
The varieties offered here includes garments, household & home decor, books, antiques and artifacts, varieties of food and beverages, plants and even live animals.

Getting to Chatuchak
From my previous visits, I used to get to Chatuchak Market by getting on the BTS Skytrain, then stop at Mo Chit station, look for exit 1 and walk for about 5 min towards the market. I have traveled on taxis or the tuk tuk but it can take a long time if you get stuck in the Bangkok traffic.
You could also use the subway (MRT) and stop at the Chatuchak Park Station and take exit 1 and that will lead you to the clothing section of the market. If you stop at the Kampheng Phet Station and take exit 1, that will lead you to the plant and flower section.
Shop till you Drop!
Now you know how to get to Chatuchak...Enjoy the day scouring over the vast varieties of goods offered in the market. You can try and haggle if you want but the prices are generally much lower than what you would find elsewhere.
Have a great shopping trip!
