Narita handles over 35 million passengers per year. It is the main hub for international flights for Japan Airlines and All Nippon Airways.
The airport is closest to the city of Narita. It is 7 kilometers from Narita and 57 kilometers from Tokyo. The long distance from Tokyo is often a complaint from travelers arriving at NRT. However, a new rapid rail link was opened in 2010 by the Narita Rapid Railway. The high speed rail link will reduce travel time to Tokyo by 20 minutes. Travel by car takes longer than one hour and traffic is heavy.
