Updated on April 21, 2016

All About Puerto Galera

Less than 5 hours of travel by land and by boat from Manila, you can now enjoy island hopping, lay on white sands at the shore, swim on the clear water of White Beach in Puerto Galera and have an awesome party at night in the so called little Boracay - Puerto Galera.

Puerto Galera is located in Oriental Mindoro, Philippines.Like the popular Boracay in Aklan, Puerto Galera showcases stunning islands to go for an island hopping adventures and one of the most beautiful and well developed beach resorts in the Philippines. It is one of the finest places you can visit in the Philippines where you don't need to worry bringing lots of money when you visit the place. Travelling in Puerto Galera is cheaper yet will give you a remarkable experience in your life and will never disappoint you with it's beauty.

We went there last year and I had fun together with my friends even if we stayed only for 2 days and 1 night. We enjoyed a lot of activities when we went there. We had our chance drinking Midoro Sling which among one of the trademarks at Puerto Galera.

What to do in Puerto Galera

Scuba Diving

Although I've never tried Scuba Diving, people who experienced it said that it's one of the many things you can do and enjoy when you visit the place. Abundant marine life are rich and will surely make you amaze when you see them under the sea.

Island Hopping and Snorkeling

To other people who doesn't experience going on island hopping and snorkeling, you'll be surprised how stunning are the islands around Puerto Galera. Snorkeling is fun seeing colorful fishes and corals under the sea.

Roam around the town

Aside from swimming, island hopping, scuba diving and etc. touring around Mindoro Island is exciting. Discovering local food and learning the history of the town is a great way to know more about the island. You might also want to try visiting nearby towns of Puerto Galera in Mindoro to see those gorgeous welcoming arch in different towns. There are also water falls you can visit such as Tamara, Aninuan and Tukuran Falls. We had missed visiting even just one of the falls when we went there due to lack of time.

How to get there

From Manila ride a bus directly routing to Batangas Pier. From Batangas Pier ride a boat where it will take you directly to white beach in Puerto Galera.

Hint: Whenever you will come from, just make sure you ride a bus that goes to Batangas pier (Batangas pier sign board). From Batangas Pier you'll never lost because there are a lot of boats that goes to white beach in Puerto Galera.

The fare from Manila to Batangas Pier to Puerto Galera costs you 1800 pesos ($39) (my estimation) going back and forth.

When we went to Puerto Galera we only have 2500 ($54) pesos per pax. We were 6 in groups. We were able to enjoy drinking (party at night), island hopping, snorkeling and ate a lot of food.

Watch the video and see how we enjoyed our stay in Pueto Galera

Hotel - Usually starts from 1800 pesos and up per night depending on where you will stay. There are so many hotels you could choose from. Book a hotel online to avoid hassle. We didn't book from any hotes when we went there, what we did was we look for hotel that offers lower price but a nice place to stay.

Food - 200 -300 pesos per pax is enough for 3 days and 2 nights of stay. You can bring your own food (advisable) or buy and cook if in tight of budget. There's a market near the beach which is walking distance only. Hotels where you will be staying usually offers you to use there kitchen wares and cook there for only 100-200 pesos. That's what we did when we went to Puerto Galera. We bought food to cook from the market and cooked it in the hotel.

Activities (Snorkeling and Island hopping) - from 1500 pesos and up 5-10 pax depending on season. When in peak season it's usually higher.

Now I suggest you bring 2500 pesos per/pax (estimation in dollar $55). I think it's enough when you go in 6-up groups. But of course bringing greater than the said more advisable.
