Guadalajara

Located in the center region of the state, Guadalajara is the Jalisco's capital. It is one of the largest cities in the country of Mexico and its main activity is commerce so you can find many products, both traditional and modern. In downtown Guadalajara you can find impressive buildings and museums, such as El Hospicio Cabañas and El Palacio de Gobierno, both of them are famous for their internal murals made by the muralist José Clemente Orozco; the Degollado Theater, the Cathedral and the regional and municipal museums of the city. If you like the nightlife, I recommend visiting the Paseo Chapultepec, a street with a walker surrounded by bars and restaurants for all tastes.

Recommended dish:Tortas ahogadas, Birria, Tejuino.

Chapala

Chapala

Chapala is the largest lake in Mexico. It is located in the east of the region. Its view in rainy weather (June-August) is magnificent. Since it is a small town that is next to this lake, you may just dedicate a quick visit of a day to visit it. The recommended thing in this place is to walk along the boardwalk, take a boat trip to the Isla de los scorpions and eat in one of the restaurants overlooking the lagoon, in any of them the food is very good.

The tequila's route

The tequila route is a tour of four famous towns for being the main producers of one of the most recognized beverages in Mexico worldwide: the tequila.
These populations are: Arenal, Amatitan, Tequila and Magdalena. They are located 60 km northwest from Guadalajara.

When traveling along this route you will find the extensive fields of the blue agave plant, raw material for the realization of the traditional drink of this region.
When visiting Arenal, do not miss the opportunity to visit the skull museum, where you will be told the story of how this drink began to be made.
In Amatitan, one of the oldest constructions in the region known as the Chimulco Ruins, now used for a beautiful original restaurant.
