Coastal Towns in Croatia
Towns in Croatia
Here I am seventeen and a half years in Croatia and still exploring this beautiful country.
It was a time for me to explore the inland of Croatia and the coastal towns that are not always mentioned.
People visit Croatia and flock to the beaches, forgetting to visit the hidden inland area of Croatia.
Be it beaches or inland, or for the hiking trails, Croatia is a gem that still needs the attention of many in the unknown.
A Mediterranean region and a lot to offer from a rich and unique culture. I share places with you from my beautiful Croatia. Tourists tend to focus on the major cities of Croatia and this puzzles me.
The beauty of a small country is enormous. Rich culture and friendly people hide out in small towns. Hospitable people from small towns give you the best of their cultures and foods.
The local people have a way with you, which is rare and so special. Brela is a small town situated fifteen kilometres from the northwest of Makarska.
In the winter the place is quiet, and you may not feel comfortable as you would in the summer. It is a tourist country and everything comes alive in the summer.
The best time is logic summertime is crowded. Brela is not a well-known destination for its beach.
The Brela stone is printed on postcards and not many people know of where this symbol comes from and of the location of Brela.
The beach is called Punta Rata.
Biokovo Nature Park is a twenty-minute drive from Brela an opportunity to visit the nature reserve. When visiting Brela make sure to wear comfortable footwear.
Carry a few bottles of water with you to not feel dehydrated. A small Croatian town with a population of a thousand and seven hundred and seventy people situated on the Dalmatian coast.
On a cape of pine-covered terrain that juts into the Adriatic Sea. The base of Brela has rocky tops and outcrops. Natural springs and pebble beaches make the scenery a natural feature to nature. You will find wildlife there, do not be surprised.
Omis
It is an interesting little town situated thirty kilometres southeast of the city of Split. This town has a history of culture and traditions of Omis. Fortica and Mirabella's fortresses are the cultural histories of the small town.
I discovered outdoor activities and superb views. Rafting, zip-line, and kayaking for those who love these activities and you will never be bored.
Omis is new to me and a perfect place for the summer.
Rovinj
It's a part of Croatia that shouldn’t be missed. Rovinj is located on the Istrian peninsula.
The beautiful town has cobbled streets which I walked on and the waterfront along the port has a wonderful outdoor feel overlooking the waters while sipping a drink.
Rovinj’s old town is famous for the bell tower of the Saint Euphemia Church and is found in Saint Mark’s Square. I visited the National Park Brijuni, a point to start the tour of the small town. The church was built by Venetians, making it a famous attraction there.
Trogir
Trogir is located twenty kilometres west of Split and is a popular destination for tourists.
Summertime is packed with tourists and is a beautiful spot for a vacation. Narrow streets in the old town for a stroll and a Cultural Heritage site. The locals are friendly and spend time having coffee together in a community.
Biograd na Moru
It is one of the destinations in Croatia that hasn’t failed in tourism. The beaches, outdoor activities, and nightlife entertainment make this place a perfect getaway for families, groups and safety for children.
The Fun Park Mirnovec is an amusement park that connects families to attend the park. Biograd na Moru is the first town in Croatia to have an amusement park.
I felt the trip was fun and amazing to visit other national parks such as Plitvice Lakes, Krka Waterfalls, and, Kornati Islands.
Cavtat
A charming small town, not crowded and five kilometres from Dubrovnik. Cavtat is located in the southern part of Croatia. Close to all amenities and shares customs and traditions when organized tour groups stop by for a visit.
The local culture is unique and part of the Konavle region. Handmade costumes, traditional costumes and visitors get to see the local dance festivals.
Souvenirs are sold at stands and is a good choice of place to visit.
I have walked to Cavtat from the airport, which is a choice for cyclists or walkers. Everything you can experience from walking in nature in the region of Konavle.
Umag
An Istrian town in the North of Istria. The border of Slovenia and Istria is close to this spot. You can explore the Old Town of Umag; its city walls from the tenth century are icons to look at.
There are Roman Pots in the museum. The ancient stories of Umag are from exhibitions from the Roman Empire. If you are looking for such history you will find it at Umag the small town in the North of Istria.
Solin
Solin is a town located on the Dalmatian coast. A small town was well-known for its historical features. The historical background in the past was a main Roman city in the region.
The ruins of Salona would surprise you. The Jadro River is a place to stroll and pop by at Saint Mary’s Church. I heard that if you sip the water from the well it would cure fertility.
Something to think about when you visit Solin. Klis Fortress was seen on the Game of Thrones and must be seen on your travels.
Croatia has a lot to offer apart from the beaches and clear waters.
I had no idea what Croatia had to offer until I went through the villages and inland to see something different and pure.
This is an outstanding place to view inland the unspoiled countryside that feeds you with fresh air and unique aromas of the herbs in nature.
I knew that when I arrived in September it would cheer me up.
The natural beauty of the inland lifestyle allowed me to see the abundance of winemakers to the freshest seasonal produce.
Motovun
Hilltops in this attractive village still stand to this day as a traditional spot. The population has decreased in Motovun. A street full of galleries, shops and restaurants to entertain tourists. Forests full of truffles and trade truffles are still in action.
Gorski Kotar
A wooded hill that separates Istria, Croatia. Rare flowers and plants surround the park, Risnjak. Wildlife, bears, wolves and foxes are hidden in the slopes of Gorski Kotar.
Omladinsko Lake is seen over the roadway lying between Rijeka and Zagreb. The different species of plants are found in unspoiled nature.
Primosten
A town of three thousand inhabitants is rural and small.
This popular tourist place has its traditional Dalmatian cuisines to share with you.
I enjoy playing traditional music with conventional instruments.
There are domesticated animals that would appear different to you.
There are seasonal folklore dances, and concerts and you get to enjoy the nightlife in peace.
Baska
Baska is a town situated on the largest island in Croatia, Krk. In the summer you can enjoy your time at live concerts.
There are cocktail parties on the beach every night. If you are hiking or cycling you will find the paths comfortable and easy for you.
The cleanest beaches in Croatia encourage swimming and clean water makes swimmers feel the water without a doubt.
It is a holiday for all and at any age. You can enjoy a vacation surfing, pedalling boats and in clean waters.
