Chatrapathi Shivaji Maharaj the God of Hindus - Palace.
First Palace in India to get Electric Power Connection.
No sooner the Palace was built there was electric Power Generated by the State under the world renowned Engineer Statesman Sir M.Visweswaraiah Dewan Bahudur of Mysore. The Palace was built under his supervision in the year 1911 ( after the earlier wooden palace was burnt out in 1897 fully except a temple of Hanuman which is preserved at the present Palace which stands on the same Foundation Stone of the burnt out palace.) it is the largest in opulence and color virtually peerless and called as Amba Vilas Palace in India. There are two more Palaces of the Maharaja at Ooty and another one in Bangalore but they are of less in grandeur than the palace they have built as their official residence. The present Scion of the Royal Family stays both at Mysore & Bangalore Palace in a section of the Palace at both the Palaces and the Fern Hill Palace at Ooty is run as a Hotel. There is also another palace on top of the Hill Chamundi in Mysore which when I visited long ago was a Hotel but I do not know if it is still a Hotel or deserted. The Palaces are open to Public for a entrance fee and it is worth seeing how the Maharaja had maintained the Palaces. Now it is maintained by the Govt of Karnataka by a staff who do the required work.
About the Mysore State.
The Kingdom of Mysore (1399–1947) was a kingdom of southern India, traditionally believed to have been founded in 1399 in the vicinity of the modern city of Mysore. The kingdom, which was ruled by the Wodeyar family, initially served as a vassal state of the Vijayanagara Empire. Around 1565, the kingdom became independent. The 17th century saw a steady expansion of its territory and, under Narasaraja Wodeyar I (pictured) and Chikka Devaraja Wodeyar, the kingdom annexed large expanses of what is now southern Karnataka and parts of Tamil Nadu to become a powerful state in the southern Deccan. It reached the height of its military power and dominion in the latter half of the 18th century under the de facto ruler Haider Ali and his son Tipu Sultan. During this time, it came into conflict with the Marathas, the British and the Nizam of Hyderabad which culminated in the four Anglo-Mysore wars. The British restored a subsidiary alliance, and a diminished Mysore was now transformed into a Princely state until Indian independence in 1947. The Mysore kings were not only accomplished exponents of the fine arts and men of letters, they were enthusiastic patrons as well and their legacies continue to influence music and art even today.

Ever seen any palace in India?
When ever I go to Mysore I see lot of White People but why so many are dressed so barely makes me feel shy to talk. However I tried to talk but they could not talk English and did not show any interest to continue our discussion. In India it is not safe to talk to strangers.or even look at then.Rape is the word if you violate any instructions.Do not go with your Boy Friend or stay with a Boy Friend which is the fashion of the day.Girls from North East are to be careful more in this respect since you show less dressed while you shop and dine in public places. However if you go to Mysore do not worry there are no rape cases reported there nor any north east Indian population is seen like Bangalore.Mysore is with a classic culture in many ways.Mysore is Royal and people call you Gurugale and hot Hello as in other places.Mysore is in many ways peaceful but slowly getting crowded due to land sharks getting places from farmers who do not want to do any farming as they are old and their children are in foreign or Bangalore.
It is now festival of NAVARATRI a 9 day non stop festival of Goddesses Saraswathi,Parvathi and Mahalaxmi. This is a traditional Mysore Royal Family Festival celebrated with in the Palace with all the original men and materials including the Prince itself in his Royal Dress along with Her Highness to do all the Pooja's on all days.

What about many more other Palaces in India.
India was a land of Raja's and Maharaja's as also Kings. There are places and palaces where no one has gone and they are now sealed. One such place is the palace of a Maharaja who had 365 rooms which had a entrance under ground from a single door of his room to all the 365 rooms with out one knowing the other as to how to go except the Maharaja. He had 365 wife's one in each room who would meet the Maharaja once a year only. Each wife had all the other wife's luxury.Another is the palace of Tipu Sultan whose palace was demolished brick by brick by the British Army to find hidden treasure in the palace and his palace items removed to England as the guide at Srirangapattana told me several years back.Another Maharaja has a temple where most precious and pur solid gold ornaments, diamonds are inside a well of the temple below the main idol worshiped. The estimate of the value of this treasure are in trillions of Rs.existing even today. They have found tunnels under the palace which had led the excavators to such places as markets in the local place to hundreds of miles for safety and safe hideouts and escapes. Some leading to there family temples which they could visit in complete secrecy so as to keep the people unaware of there presence in the temple for security reasons. Each King / Maharaja had a enemy and they fought like hell so they were taking maximum precautions. They had secret service and agents who were more trust worthy than present day system and arrangements.India was the richest country in the world 300 years back.We had things that no other country had heard let alone see.We had one religion with apps.

Hotels are now Palaces run by even Maharaja's.
A few Palaces are now run by Maharaja's themselves and few are run by Corporates. However the Palaces are Heritage Buildings and they are National Treasures who takes the responsibility of keeping them in ship shape. As they were and make no structural changes. The respective Govt's do not show any worth while actions to see to this and our Indian Govt is deeply involved in mismanaging the nation by its hopeless stupid politicians who take pride in doing the right things in the wrong places.Let God Save Our Palaces.( Mr.Ratan Tata is the GOD for all Hotels )
