Famous Beaches in Corsica, France

I was awaken by the sounds of the birds singing at about 7:00 a.m. in the morning. I stood up and look outside delighted by the warm sunny weather, just perfect for our day plan to take a trip to the south regions of Corsica. As i took 2 cups of coffee sitting in our covered veranda, i thought to myself, what a wonderful morning, feeling complete and happy, thanking God.

Getting ready for the day trip, i took my shower, i packed the necessary things needed for our journey, some bottles of mineral water, fruits and equipments for snorkeling, sunbathing etc.. I prepared the breakfast, wake my kids and my husband. After breakfast we started our tour.

We made a beach hopping enjoying an hour or two swimming at the famous beautiful beaches of Corsica. I mentioned in my Part I hub, as my favorite beaches.

Saint Cyprien - Turquoise water, red rock, a truly magnificent color palette. This shallow beach is suitable for families with children, watersports equipment for diving, water skiing, sailing, jet skiing, etc. can be rented on site. Unfortunately we just passed by this beautiful beach directing to Cala Rosa.

Cala Rosa- The bay of Cala Rosa is another treasure from Lecci. The upscale tourism came here together. Greens and blue tones in all its shades, the background the towers of Bavella can be recognize from here ... About 8 kilometers away from Lecci. The beach is ideal for children and here one can learn wind surfing and lots of beach animations.

Palombaggia - We parked our car on a shade from the tree and walked through the parking area reaching some points to the beach. A long broad white sandy beach with crystal clear water. We found a comfortable place for sunbathing near the restaurant so we could always order some cold softdrinks or finger foods anytime we want. For Benda, our dog...she has her place on the mat under the umbrella so she had always a shade against the bright sun rays. She doesn't like to take a swimm in the water but loves to observe around watching us swimming. She had a bowl fresh water to drink and some snacks to take to satisfy her thirst and hunger. She does not have much appetite to eat when weather is warm.

My husband, daughter and son enjoyed snorkeling and have seen different kinds of fishes. I enjoyed swimming, a terrific water temperature, very refreshing. The beach is ideal for children and for not swimmer. I am not a good swimmer, i don't swimm far from the seashore, i rather swimm along the coastline so it was terrific for me swimming back and fort with a calm sea, feeling the fine sandy bottom of the water with my bare foot, as i made several pause while swimming.

After 2 hours, we continued our trip to another beach.

Santa Giulia beach. The place had a different atmosphere, beautiful houses overlooking the beach along our way, well culivated flowers and trees, a beautiful scenery one can adore a picturesque of panorama. Lots of fresh fruit, vegetables and cheese vendors along the side of the street.

There were lots of tourist around, the beach was quite busy. We had a good parking area not far from the entry points to the beach. We followed a small path reaching a liitle beach cove and just lucky getting a good place for sunbathing with our dog.

The beach has a fine powder sand, long seashore and it has place for every tourist. As i got in the water to swimm, i was surprise of the tranquility and the stillness of the sea water and the intact powder sand under my feet, i felt it was cemented like as when i step on the swimmingpool. I praised and said to myself, " wow!!!wonderful, beautiful, magnificent!! I haven't experienced like this before. I had to share my feelings to my husband how I was so excited and enjoyed every bit of the time swimming in San Giula. I could see my feet clearly as i stood on the water. The water is just very perfect crystal clear and it seems i was swimming in the pool.

My son and my husband were snorkeling but my husband found it more exciting in Palombaggia where there are lots of different kinds of fishes to adore.

After 2 hours we drove to Rondinara. Passing a curving road up the mountain at last we arrived Rondinara. We did not went swimming as we were running out of time. We took some pictures of the beautiful beach and parked to somewhere where we made ourselves fresh and changed our clothes for our next destination to Bonifacio.

Bonifacio

Bonifacio is located at the very southern tip of Corsica in only 12 kilometers away from the large neighboring island of Sardinia. Because of its stunning location on the edge of 60 m high and vertical limestone cliffs dropping into the sea Bonifacio is certainly one of the most beautiful towns of Corsica. In addition to its spectacular location, the natural harbor at the end of about 1.5 kilometers deep fjords and the compact design of the old town with its powerful appeal to the citadel of Bonifacio.

History of Bonifacio

The establishment of Bonifacio goes back to the year 828 by the Tuscan Boniface, Count di Lucca. Various archaeological discoveries suggest, however, that the area around Bonifacio during the prehistoric colonization of Corsica was inhabited. Due to its strategic location, the Genovese were interested getting Bonifacio. 1187 they finally succeeded by a ruse to take the city. Apart from a brief interruption until 1768 Bonifacio remained in Genoese hands.

Bonifacio - The Old Town

Bonifacio has a large number of very old buildings.Because of its location on the limestone plateau, the buildings were build very close and the narrow streets accordingly. The old town of Bonifacio offers its cityscape. A special attraction is the duRoi Escalier d'Aragon (stairway of the king of Aragon). was carved diagonally in the vertical cliffs over 187 large steps and forms an access to the sea. According to legend, she should have been created during the unsuccessful siege by the Spaniards 1420th In fact, the staircase is much older. The levels are unusually high and often slippery, so that flip-flops or high heels are not recommended. Once at sea, one may even go up to a cave there and be sprinkled each of the spray.
