Detroit Princess River Boat
One Night in Detroit on the River
Last night I went to a benefit dinner with my children aboard a cruise ship. The cruise was 3 hours long and took place along the Detroit River. From the moment we boarded the boat, we were greeted with happy, smiling employees who were dressed well and acted in an accommodating manner. Waiters catered to our every need but did not intrude in the conversation, their manner of dress was neat and tidy and in keeping with the uniform requirements. The elevator was not working and they apologized for this and compensated me with two free drink tokens for the fully stocked bar. The all you can eat buffet was impressive with crab-stuffed salmon and prime rib, vegetarian lasagna and home made dinner rolls. The dessert was light and fresh with strawberries picked locally upon a nice fluffy angel food cake and topped with ice cream. The entertainment was a Motown singing group with a lot of energy and talent. They interacted with the audience in a way that was funny and engaging. All the ladies wanted to dance and everyone was encouraged to participate; everyone was included, even men and small children got up on their feet and danced. After two hours, the Motown group finished their set and the music that was played was hip hop dance music. The entire room got up then, in spite of the boat being docked, and everyone danced for another half hour! We all danced in a line, stepping, hopping, sliding, and "cha-cha-ing" our night away. The staff never asked anyone to leave, they got involved and danced with us, and everyone was invited back and encouraged to laugh, dance and be merry on the Detroit Princess. If you have not taken this fantastic voyage, I encourage you to do so as soon as you can! :)
Happy Sails to You,
XOXO,
