Dominican Republic: Photographs
I love photographing landscapes and waterscapes. The photos posted here are from my travels through the Dominican Republic earlier this spring (2011). Perhaps through them I can raise people's interest in the little Caribbean Island which I found simply spectacular.
My favorite photograph here is the one with the boat hanging-out by itself, rocking against the waves (the seventh photo in the bunch). Actually, that has been the background picture for my desktop for quite a while now. I really love sitting on the beach to watch the sun rise. That night I had slept on the beach altogether - I didn't bother to go back to the hotel. I have done that many times, in Cuba also ...
The other photographs of various birds and monkeys were taken on an excursion tour. The monkeys were really fun. They were the size of one's palm and would jump from one person to another ... we (the tourists) were used as trees - I didn't mind, having monkeys fly on and off my shoulders. It was a little difficult to photograph them since they were so jumpy but we were given food to feed them and they did calm down a little.
I cannot stress enough what an amazing experience I had while traveling through the Dominican Republic. The fact that I went twice, in February and March, should say it all. I just couldn't get enough so to speak: white beaches, the sand burning my feet ... it was all pretty awesome! If you can go - go without hesitation!
