The Sweets of Oahu

Every island in Hawaii is home to delicious, sweet creations, and here are a few that you can find on Oahu.

Matsumoto's Shave Ice

If you're in the North Shore area, shave ice shops are aplenty, but the longest line will usually be found at M. Matsumoto's Store, known to most as simply Matsumoto's.

With an abundance of flavors to choose from, Matsumoto's also offers patrons the option to add vanilla ice cream, azuki beans, and condensed milk to their icy treats.

It's the perfect way to end a day at the beach on the North Shore of Oahu.

Liliha Bakery Original Coco Puffs

Open 24 hours a day, Liliha Bakery serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner, but what draws many to this well-loved establishment are the Coco Puffs.

A flaky, buttery puff of pastry is filled with chocolate pudding and frosted with chantilly icing.

There are other flavors available, but the original by far is the most popular, and definitely a must-try for any visitor with a sweet tooth.

Leonard's Bakery Original Malasadas

Leonard's Bakery flagship store is located in Honolulu, but fortunately for fans of their malasadas, their "Malasadamobiles" can be found in other cities on the island.

Locals crave these deep-fried balls of dough that are crispy on the outside, but soft on the inside.

The malasadas are rolled in sugar or cinnamon sugar, and sometimes stuffed with custard, haupia, or dobash fillings.

For a taste of Hawaii, try the original malasadas - simply rolled in sugar with no filling.

Your mouth may end up covered with sugar, but it will definitely be smiling after a taste of Leonard's malasadas.

Visit the Leonard's Bakery website for locations.

Ted's Bakery Chocolate Haupia Pie

Another sweet find on the North Shore of Oahu is the Chocolate Haupia pie from Ted's Bakery.

A flaky crust is topped with a silky, smooth chocolate filling, a layer of haupia filling (coconut flavor), and finally a layer of whipped topping.

The end result is a decadent pie that even those not fond of coconut will devour.

Ted's also serves items for breakfast and lunch, and what better way to end your meal than with a delicious piece of pie.

Napoleon's Bakery Apple Napples

Napoleon's Bakery signature item, the Napple is a light, flaky, puffed pastry filled with one of several fillings, with Apple being one of the most popular flavors.

Other flavors include Cherry, Coconut, Blueberry Cream Cheese, and Chocolate.

It's delicious as is, or if you're really looking to indulge, top with a scoop of vanilla ice cream!

Various locations throughout Oahu.

Sweet Treats to Leave You Satisfied

These are just a few examples of sweet treats that you can find on the island of Oahu.
