Day Trips in Florida

Can you picture warm, sunny Florida filled with beach-partying visitors? Indeed. Florida provides beautiful, tropical vacations.

As a Florida native, I love my home state and all its rich history. Whether you have the opportunity to see Florida online or in person, I want to share vacation spots in Florida. Here are a few popular cities that will intrigue you to fill up the car and have fun. You don't have to spend a lot of money or travel out of the state to enjoy day trips in Florida.

St. Petersburg, Tampa, Orlando and Miami offer some of the best Florida vacations.

Florida Getaways: Saint Petersburg, Fl

St. Pete Packs A Lot of Fun

Saint Petersburg is located on the west coast of Florida. It is the second largest city, with a population of approximately 248,200 people, a growth explosion from the 1890 population of 458.

St. Pete, as it's called by residents, lies on a peninsula between the Gulf of Mexico and Tampa Bay.

St. Petersburg connects to the mainland with the Howard Franklin Bridge and Gandy Bridge headed north into Tampa; the Sunshine Skyway headed south into Bradenton and Sarasota; and the causeways to Clearwater, St. Pete Beach, Madeira Beach, and Treasure Island.

St. Pete is part of Pinellas County, the second smallest county in Florida, yet ranked the fifth largest county in population. The 2000 consensus shows a median age of 39.44, a fun fact for people who think of Florida as solely for retired seniors.

Pinellas County has 115 bridges and 35 miles of beaches, which include two of the nation's top beaches - Caladesi Island and Fort De Sota Park.

I enjoyed living in Deerfield Beach and Hollywood, the beaches are wonderful there. I would love on Sanibel Island, because I think being able to just go out and collect seashells any day of the year would be wonderful. There is a bit of something for everyone in Florida. I'm not very familiar with northern Florida though, only driven through. Nice guide to some of the fun places in Florida, blessed.
