The Dubai Mall

Long flights, like intercontinental flights usually have stopovers. Usually in stopovers we kill the time waiting for the next flight by just staying and getting bored in the airport. You can stop being bored during stopovers. Especially when your stopover is Dubai. Make the most of your stopover and arrange for a longer stay like an overnight stay.

Spend an afternoon to midnight visit to one of the world's most spectacular malls on earth. Stay in a hotel nearby the airport and take a metro ride to downtown Dubai. While outside is hot, the mall is fully airconditioned. The place is not only for shopping, it is also for entertainment, leisure and dining for all ages. The stores and attractions are open 7 days a week from 10 am. So grab your chance to visit and enjoy to the hilt. There are four levels - the lower ground is the parking ground with valet parking and car services. Then there are the ground floor, the first level and the second level. Are you a fashion fanatic? Then visit the Fashion Avenue where luxury brands like Louis Vutton, Chanel, D&G are found as well as renowned Arabic fashion stores like Ali Al Jazeeri and Yasmine. You can also find shops for gifts and crafts, health & beauty, home furnishing, jewelry, perfumes, footwear, toys, electronics, and music. Everywhere are kiosks for some drinks and snacks. For serious dining you can have a pick of the various cafe's, restaurants and fastfoods in the Village, Dubai's indoor-outdoor streetscape with its retractable roof. Everywhere you can find services points like: banks and financial services, toilets, florists, pharmacies, travel, photo development, telecommunications and police station.

If you want indoor traditional shopping experience, visit the Dubai Mall Indoor Souk. There you can test your bargaining expertise for jewelries, rugs and clothings.

The currency used in Dubai is the United Arab Emirates dirham which is approximately 5 AED for 1 Euro.

Enjoy the numerous aquatic animals like the Sand Tiger Sharks and Stingrays. Watch the glass-bottom boat rides and shark dives. Or go ice skating at the Dubai Ice Rink where you can also witness concerts and events like figure skating events, hockey matches and ice shows. For games you have the SEGA Republic, Goal and KidZania. Have fun with the whole family at the theme park Big Fun World or visit the Reel Cinemas for the latest films.

It is a breathtaking extravaganza of giant sprays of water set to music and light spectacles. You can also climb up the top of the high tower of Burj Khalifa but which you have to make an earlier reservation.

Witness also the grand waterfalls at the Waterfront Promenade.

For the artists at heart, you can visit the Gallery One and Mini Creation.

I did not know about these either. Before during stopovers, I just stay in the airport waiting for the next flight. But now, it's interesting to make your stopover long enough to enjoy the city sights.
