For Family Travel, Hampton Inn Is Top Notch

I am a nurse who enjoys traveling, spending time with my family and having fun. I've had a passion for traveling all my life.

A good family hotel

Traveling with family can be a stressful and costly experience. When vacationing its good to have a hotel chain that creates an experience that is relaxing and has entertainment for the whole family. The Hampton Inn has the great combination of good accommodations, a great staff, and reasonable prices. In this article I summarize 4 Hampton Inn characteristics that make it such a good family lodging option. These include the great breakfast, the modern and roomy social space, the ease of booking, and cost.

Breakfast in the morning

The signature feature of every Hampton Inn is breakfast every morning. And we're not talking stale donuts and 10 hour old coffee. Breakfasts at the Hampton Inn feature eggs, bacon, sausage, cereal, made to order waffles, and lots and lots of coffee. No matter your tastes or diet there is something in the breakfast for everyone. The staff does a great job keeping the food well stocked. The breakfast is a great way to get the day started. You can eat in the large breakfast area and mingle with the other guests or load up your plate and take it back to your room. This breakfast would cost $10-15 in a restaurant. For a family of four you're saving as must as $60 a day.

If you don’t have time for breakfast or even if you do, Hampton provides what they call Go Bags for travelers in a hurry. They contain, snacks and drinks that a traveler can consume on the way to the airport or their next meeting.

24 hour coffee and a quiet place to relax

Like most hotels, there is a coffee maker in every room. There is also however, containers of regular coffee, decaf coffee, bold coffee, and hot water and various tea selections. No matter what time of day it is, you can always get your caffeinated beverage. In addition to the drinks, there is an open reception area with comfortable chairs and televisions. You can go and relax and hang out, talk, or watch a football game. These nice social areas are a result of Hampton’s 2012 Perfect Mix initiative which was a project to upgrade and enlarge the social areas across the brand. Maybe you need some time alone or a quiet place to get some work done. When you do, there‘s always a place waiting for you.

Ease of Booking

The Hampton Inn chain is owned by the Hilton company who has one of the top rated hotel rewards programs in the business according to Forbes. In addition to racking up the points on stays, Hilton has an excellent app for booking stays in Hampton Inns and other Hilton Properties. The app has an excellent user interface where you simply type in your location and dates and the app will find you a Hilton property for your stay. Just filter according to the Hampton brand. What is a particularly helpful is the very clear display of what features are present in each hotel. Looking for a hotel with an indoor pool so the kids can work off some energy? Just look for the icon of the swimmer enclosed in a pentagon. Have specific questions about where youre thinking of staying? The hotel's phone number is posted on the hotel’s main profile page. The app also contains recommendations for local restaurants and bars and clubs. The app also lets you book the hotel in Hilton points or cash.

Cost

Hampton Inns are usually rated as 3 star accommodations with prices averaging $110 a night before taxes. While it is not the cheapest hotel chain, it offers great value for the money. When you factor in the money you save on breakfast, that price competes even with cheaper hotel brands like Motel 6 who do not offer breakfast or the great amenities that Hampton Inn provides.

in addition to cost, Hampton Inn properties are in a variety of locatons from airports to highway stops to centrally located downtown entertainment areas. My family and I have stayed in a Hampton Inn just down the road from Busch Stadium in Saint Louis as well as Memphis next to Beale Street. We’ve also stayed in Hamptons in rural Michigan and Kentucky and the experience was great in all of them.
