Geneva Lake Wisconsin is a great place to be. The activities are almost endless - snow skiing, concerts, or boating fun or simply meandering along the shops. Geneva Lake Wisconsin is a tourist mecca. Because these resort towns are often just under one hour from Chicago, Illinois, it makes the perfect day trip or weekend get away for the entire family. Locating a clean and inexpensive hotel/motel is possible.

For the sake of frugality, consider not following the crowd. Find a motel that is not advertised and save your funds for fun vacation events. There is a time and place for everything and spending your money for clean, cheap lodging when your family is seeking to focus on the journey is a wise choice.

This small hotel is convenient, clean and affordable. When we used to have guest come in, this is the inexpensive referral we would suggest to them.

Inside tip for being frugal, do allow some shopping time, the Good Will Store is 1/2 block away and residents from Illinois routinely drive to this store because of its quality. The quality I presume is originating from the proximity of the Lake Geneva region.

This is a hidden gem. It is close to everything and always offers a great value. It also offers a 1100 sq foot meeting space and the amenities in the room provide microwave, refrigerator and a coffee pot.

It is tucked away out of sight but a great value for the high demand area.

"Waves: Since Geneva Lake is a long lake stretching from east to west, waves are at their greatest heights and force when there is a strong wind blowing from the east or west. Geneva Lake is calm on some days, while on some rare days there are waves as high as 5 feet or more. Of course the size of the waves is also influenced by "boat chop" created by boat wakes.

* Temperatures are taken at three feet below the surface at Water Safety Patrol H.Q.(between Williams Bay and Fontana) in Lake Geneva and averaged over the years beginning with 1991. Surface temperatures often fluctuate by 1° to 6° depending on the location on the lake (temperatures are generally a bit cooler on the west end of the lake near Fontana)."

Church service often is forgotten when on vacation and yet it can offer a memorable experience. Yes, it is cheap, no fees are required but often the items that are free in life are the true experiences - especially for our families.

A great option for the family to explore is a non-denominational church and one of the best is called Chapel on the Hill, located conveniently on Route 50 and lead by Dr. Bob Bardin.

Lake Geneva Wisconsin Fun Vacation Options

There are many great options in this area. My personal favorites would be the last two lodging choices and the beach at Fontana. Of course retail and restaurants are centered in the City of Lake Geneva. Remember the communities of Williams Bay, Fontana and Lake Geneva all some one common delight - the lake called Geneva Lake.

Do take a boat ride, do spend some time walking the free pathway, do go for ice cream. Do check out the plays on Route 50 at the Chapel on the Hill. But most of all enjoy the water and sunshine and natural delights and have fun!
