Going with the In:Flow in London
More scenic than the underground, faster than the bus and cheaper than a taxi, the MBNA Thames Clippers are one of the best ways to travel through London and experience all that the capital has to offer.
Faster than the bus and cheaper than a taxi
Thames Clippers run a high speed commuter and passenger river taxi service between Putney and Woolwich on the river Thames in London. The Clippers promote themselves as 'the fastest and most frequent fleet on the river', leaving the major London piers every 20 minutes and promising travellers a comfortable seat in climate controlled catamarans with plenty of refreshment options on board.
Clippers do offer a unique view of all the major riverside landmarks in the city such as Big Ben, Tate Modern, Tower of London and the O2. As such, they provide a free app in:flow -The Thames Clipper App, that will change your phone into an audio guide for the duration of your journey, giving historical facts and telling stories about the river and various iconic sights as you pass them by.
The opportunity to travel and do some sightseeing at the same time
Adult fares start at £3.90, children from £1.95 and a child under five travels free. Passengers can receive discounted fares by using an Oyster card or paying using contactless to touch-in and touch-out , but it is worth noting that you should not touch-in before the clipper arrives as the staff require to see you do so. Passengers who have a TfL Travelcard get 30% discount on the standard fare, and you can also save by buying tickets online.
Cheaper than a Thames river cruise, and maybe just as informative, the opportunity to travel and do some sightseeing at the same time while relaxing on the Clipper, with a cappuccino (£2.80) or a G&T (£6.20) is one very pleasant way to kill two birds with one stone.
