Part of Tennessee’s charm as a vacation destination is its diversity. East, Middle and West Tennessee all have distinct traits and offer different experiences for locals and vacationers. Following are some of the best spots for romance and fun on your honeymoon.

From the mountains of East Tennessee to the Memphis Mississippi, here are some of the top spots for a honeymoon getaway or a romantic weekend trip.

After you've read, if you still can't decide, take the quiz at the bottom to find your best Tennessee honeymoon spot!

East Tennessee

East Tennessee is defined by its beautiful mountains and plateaus. The geography of the land helps to create beautiful and unique spots for your honeymoon getaway. The rich heritage of the land with its deep Scottish-Irish roots and traditions influences the crafts, music and traditions of the area. You can stay in a cozy cabin with your own Jacuzzi or find a quaint little bed and breakfast and experience the history and culture of the area. Here are some of the best places to stay, best activities and best food.

Consider staying in Gatlinburg, Jonesborough, or Chattanooga.

Gatlinburg--One of the Most Popular Honeymoon Destinations

Gatlinburg in Sevier County Tennessee had been a tourist hot spot for a hundred years. The area was first used by mountain settlers and Cherokee Indians as hunting grounds. But once the first hotels began to be built, it transformed into a great destination.

Part of Gatlinburg’s charm is that it is the Gateway to the Smokies and is nestled between the bustling Pigeon Forge which boasts great restaurants, shopping and the popular theme park Dollywood. On the other side is the Great Smokey Mountain National Park.

So honeymooners have many options. Eat some breakfast at the famous Pancake Pantry and then take a hike on one of the beautiful mountain trails or spend the day at Cades Cove. Or you can decide to go shopping for discounted items at the outlets in Pigeon Forget to help start your new life together. Or even stay in and snuggle in the hot tub!

Each day can be a new adventure.

The city is the Storytelling Capital of the world and every year there is an International Storytelling competition. Most weekends there is a festival celebrating music, storytelling or history. Middle Tennessee

Dominated by the bustling life of Nashville, Middle Tennessee stands out as its own unique destination. Whether you are a country music fan or not, you can find some exciting and unique honeymoond destinations in Middle Tennessee.

Nashville

Nashville has great entertainment and dining options all around the area. You can see a show, take a ride down the river on a dinner cruise or see a historic plantation that still has bullet holes from the Civil War. Don't forget to visit the historic markers all around downtown. One of my favorite attractions is a scale reproduction of The Parthenon, which is surrounded by a beautiful and peaceful park. In the fall the city hosts The Southern Book Festival with world-renowned southern authors in attendance.

Memphis is famous for its music, barbeque and its deep roots. While you are in Memphis, be sure to check out Shiloh where a bloody Civil War battleground has been transformed into a beautiful and serene piece of history. Then head over to Graceland to see where The King lived. Finally spend the evening in one of the many jazz and blues clubs on Beale Street.

  • Hotel:The Peabody---Can you really go wrong when you stay at a hotel that combines tradition, class, and ducks? The Peabody offers the daily red carpet tradition of ducks marching to the beautiful fountain. But there’s more than that.
