Historic Beaufort South Carolina

Beaufort touts a rich and exciting history dating to the Paleo-Indians who first lived here about 15,000 years ago, then the Spanish arrived in the early 1500's, followed by the French.

Cotton and Indigo farming transformed Beaufort into one of the wealthiest towns of its size in the Nation. The Civil War era brought a swift end to the prosperity, but because of the early Federal occupation, Beaufort and much of the surrounding area was not destroyed. This accounts for why Beaufort has such a large and well preserved historic district.

Movie makers have also discovered this area, and some of the biggest block busters in Hollywood were filmed here. Forrest Gump,The Prince of Tides, GI Jane... just to name a few. Many US Marines retire in the Low Country after their first contact through MCAS, the Navy Hospital or Parris Island, one of the nations finest Recruit training stations.

When it comes to nature, the entire area is dedicated to preservation. The people here enjoy fishing, shrimping, and crabbing from Beaufort's many rivers and the Atlantic Ocean. There is no better tasting seafood than fresh caught! The tradition of southern coastal cuisine finds a home in Beaufort. The pristine ecosystem provides the Artist and Photographer with scenes found nowhere else. The healthy outdoor lifestyle is easy to embrace when surrounded by the natural beauty Beaufort and Habersham have to offer.

Whether you catch a glimpse of the sunrise along the tidal waves, or share a picnic at sunset by the dunes, the Lowcountry lifestyle is unmatched . Hunting Island State Park, one of the most popular State Parks in South Carolina and the world famous Hunting Island Lighthouse are also located here. With over 5,000 acres of unspoiled "natural" beach and wildlife habitat, it provides a "back to nature" experience so seldom seen with other beach areas.

It's easy to see why so many have come to experience the lifestyle and charm here in the Beaufort LowCountry...the "Queen of the Sea Islands".

In realistic easy speak langauge what is the most effective way to get a cheap deal t in land /home?

Would be so much easier if Realators would just answer questions up front ie.

      How much is this home?

Who has the pictures to this home?

      Deposit etc?

Condition of home and or land?

Info on surrounding enviroment ,nearest city ,business area etc?

I thought with all the problems economically that buying would be a buyers dream but Im not finding realators actively serve the buyer ,like they dont really care if a property sells or not.

That has been my experience so far . Maybe my expectation of Real Esatate practices here in New Zealand has colored my judgement as we seek to understand how they operate in U.S.

All we want is information on certain listed properties so we can come to a decision etc. What is so hard about that?....isnt it all stored in a database and if Realators are listed agents ,what is their job specifically?

Enjoyed your hub ,thanks for reading my comment.
