Horizontal Waterfalls Western Australia
Horizontall Falls Adventure !
Have you heard about the amazing Horizontal Falls which are a natural phenomenon a seaplane ride from Derby or Broome on the Kimberley coast in the Buccaneer Archipelago in Western Australia ?
Why not treat yourself to a luxury stay overnight in Talbot Bay on the houseboat - enjoy a ride through the Horizontal Falls - a slower pace cruise around the area , watch some fish feeding then enjoy a relaxing evening on-board while watching the sunset.
Bring your own wine etc & chat with other like minded passengers as you relax & unwind in the peaceful setting .
Enjoy having fresh barramundi cooked for your dinner as the sun sets at the end of an exciting day .
We were based in Kununurra so we chose to do the trip out to the Horizontal Falls via Derby .
It was a 25 minute enjoyable ride to the falls in the Seaplane and the trip there was part of the adventure !
You can either do a day trip out there or stay overnight so I chose a romantic overnight stay for my husband & I as it looked like great value and more relaxing for us rather than rushing the trip .
We loved everything about the whole experience from the moment we were picked up from our accommodation in Derby to the moment we got back as the staff were friendly & made us feel at home and relaxed on board the houseboat and it was nice chatting to the other guests as well.

The Horizontal Waterfalls
The Horizontal Waterfalls which are a 25 minute flight or 15 hour boat ride from Derby are the result of the huge tides (up to 11 metres) experienced in the area rushing through two narrow gorges (one is 20 metres wide and the other is 10 metres). The phenomenon, which can reach a height of 4m, is best seen from the air or in a jet boat propelling you through the falls which is a fun way to experience the falls !
