How to Take Leave From Work to Accomplish Travelling Goals

Updated on October 17, 2019

We all had our new year’s resolution to travel around the world or our favourite place when this year began some ten or eleven months ago, but the majority of us are still unable to fulfil it. Some of us are unable to travel due to our health, some of us fall short on finance, and some of us are unable to secure leaves from our work. As this year is ending soon, and we all still clinging to this year’s resolution, it is wise to start planning a trip that will end this travelling draught. Now I understand that we all have our issues that I just mentioned, but they all can be tackled in a way or another. In this article, I am going to discuss some useful tips on how to request leave from your work to travel to your favourite destination before this year ends.

So no more ending this year just like all the previous years without fulfilling travelling resolution. There are different ways to save for your trip, and with little management and research, you can easily save enough for your trip. You can also maintain your health for your trip. In fact, a travelling trip can always enhance your health by curing all the stress you have in your body and soul. But one thing that concerns us all is the leave from work and its approval. So for this reason, we are going to dedicate this article to the dilemma of requesting leave from work to travel.

My Ultimate travelling tip

Before I begin my article, I want to present my ultimate travelling tip to all the readers. It is a fact that most people are more scared of overspending and expensive travel trips than applying for leaves successfully. Once you are fully committed to travel, there will always be a way to secure your leaves. The best way to bring down the total cost of your trip is to consult only the best UK travel agents. They are leading the business of travelling with their amazing cheap flight securing methods, hotel accommodation tips and tricks, and providing other amazing ideas to make any trip affordable. So be wise and always book with the best in the business.

Tips to successfully apply for leaves in order to travel

When you are going to read these tips, it will make your travel trip much closer to you. You just need to make up your mind for travelling and prepare for what is going to be on the road. So be excited for what is yet to come in this year, as you are going to make more plans and travelling resolutions for the next year as well. Read these tips carefully and make the most of them avail your leave from office.

Plan your play

When you are thinking to apply for leave at your office, it is important to plan your play first. You need to approach your travel request properly so that a minimal backlash is created, and your reputation is maintained at work. It is also important to familiarize yourself with your office’s leave of absence policy. If your bosses have a history of declining leave requests, it is important to find a way that your request cannot be denied in any way possible. It also includes coming in good graces of your boss. You also need to back up your excuse to leave with anything solid.

Know your rights as an employee

Your annual leave, casual, or sick leave is your right and you should know it. But it doesn’t mean that you assume you will always get the leave when you want to go somewhere. Companies give leave to their employees when they want to, not when the employee wants to. So for this reason, you need to make the right approach to your manager and human rights officer by explaining to them why you need this leave, and how important it is to you. When you broach this subject, you will always get an extra chance of availing leave successfully.

Apply for leave in advance

Although the year is almost at its end, I highly recommend you to apply for leave now if you want to go at the end of this year. If you plan to apply leave, make sure you apply in 2 months advance time period. In this way, you will have a great amount of time to work on any project and see it through. Applying in advance for at least 2 months prior is also considered ethical. So always apply in advance.

Learn from others experience

There are always going to be other employees in your department who have applied for leaves before. If they were successful, you need to ask them how they applied. And if they were unsuccessful, you need to learn what mistakes they made. Learn from their experience, and make sure you make your case strong enough that cannot be rejected in any way.

Avoid using the travel reason

Although I recommend everyone to tell only the truth when it comes to work or any other aspect of life, it can be bent a little when it comes to asking for your right to leave from work. Most of the time organizations don’t reason well with your motive to travel for leisure or any other purpose, and they reject your leave of absence application. For this reason, you should always provide any reason that is hard for them to reject. I once made an excuse for attending the wedding ceremony of a friend so that I can travel to one of my favourite destination in the world. It isn’t ethical, but sometimes you need to play it this way when your employer doesn’t play well with you.

Start making your supervisor’s mind about you leaving for sometime

It is imperative to start making up your employer’s mind that you are planning to travel sometime in the future, by discussing your potential destination or even asking for his opinion. In this way, they will know that you are planning a trip and you already have their consent over it.
