Indian Food In Newquay Cornwall
Indian Food In Newquay
Although Newquay is very popular with visitors - and everybody loves an indian curry - there are surprisingly few places you can eat indian food in Newquay. A new indian restaurant opened in Newquay in 2016, bringing the total to five indian restaurants in Newquay.
The longest established indian restaurant in Newquay is the Maharajah, which has in rent years been updated and extended with a road-side conservatory, which accommodates the waiting area. This is the only indian restaurant with sea views.
The Indian Dining Club opened in 2010. Although the restaurant has fabulous full height bi-folding doors, they open onto the street and station car park, so not always a great view! They closed in 2015.
Below are my opinions and experiences of the five places you can buy indian food in Newquay:
Maharajah Opening Hours:
Open 7 days per week, all year
5pm - late
Restaurant: YES
Takeaway: YES
Home Delivery: YES
Maharajah
The Maharajah is the longest established indian restaurant in Newquay. The restaurant enjoys fabulous sea views, overlooking Newquay Bay - ideal for watching a sunset while dining. The restaurant has had a huge conservatory added to the rear in recent years, creating a panoramic view of the Ocean while you're eating.
Located close to the railway station, this indian restaurant in Newquay provides the full expected range of standard, traditional Indian food. It's regularly been used by locals for regular curry nights as well as special occasions. The owner of the Maharajah has done a lot of work locally to contribute towards charities and to put on special events, such as the Santa nights near to Xmas.
The Maharajah indian restaurant also provides home delivery indian food in the Newquay area, in their own signpainted van.
Top Tip: Try the Maharajah Indian's great range of vegetarian biryani dishes. I recently enjoyed their chickpea & potato biryani, which I can thoroughly recommend.
Indian Summer Opening Hours:
5pm - late
Restaurant: YES
Takeaway: YES
Home Delivery:YES.
Indian Summer
The Indian Summer restaurant has been open a few years now and is situated in the town centre. The restaurant is air-conditioned and on two floors.
I find the Indian Summer indian restaurant in Newquay to be a very pleasant dining experience, it's relaxed and enjoyable - and the food is of a very high quality. The staff are welcoming and attentive without being annoying.
Indian Buffet/All You Can Eat
One feature of the Indian Summer indian restaurant is that they do a Buffet, All You Can Eat, on Sundays. The Sunday Buffet runs from 5.30pm to 10:30pm. During these hours you can eat as much as you like for just £7.95 for adults and children under 12 £4.50.
Discounts:
There's a special discount night on Wednesdays, except during July-August. If you dine in, there's 20% taken off your bill.
Dining Club Opening Hours:
NOW PERMANENTLY CLOSED
Indian Dining Club: CLOSED DOWN
The Indian Dining Club was launched in Newquay in 2010, having taken over the previous Metro bar, also named the Black Sheep bar - and what used to be an Irish Bar before that alongside the railway station. It closed down in 2015
Zaman's Opening Hours:
5pm - 10.30pm
Restaurant: YES
Takeaway: YES
Home Delivery: YES
Zaman's, Newquay
Zaman's Newquay was opened in August 2016, the second restaurant of the owner who also has a restaurant in Datchet.
Offering Bengali cuisine, the prices are reasonable and they offer a restaurant, a takeaway service and a home delivery service within four miles.
Due to their location, on the outskirts of Newquay, on Henver Road, they have plenty of free on-site parking. If you want to eat at an indian restaurant without driving into town, then this should be the restaurant to visit. Zaman's is the nearest indian restaurant to Watergate Bay and Porth.
Opening Hours:
Open 7 days a week, including bank holidays
April-September, 5pm - 11pm
October-March, 5pm-10pm
Restaurant: NO
Takeaway: YES
Home Delivery: YES
Green Chilli
The Green Chilli is, in my opinion, the best indian food in Newquay. From when they first opened their doors a number of years ago most people in the town have been grateful they can finally get an indian just how they like it.
Unfortunately, the Green Chilli does not have a restaurant. They do, however, do home delivery - and their drivers provide indian food delivered to campsites and holiday accommodation for the surrounding area.
If you want an indian takeaway, then it can be tricky to park right outside the Green Chilli at any time - but it's possible to park in the road behind and walk round sometimes, or park across the road in the Aldi or Asda car park and nip across. Alternatively, pay to park in one of the pay and display car parks at the station, which is round the corner.
If you are the owner of one of these businesses and wish the details to be amended, altered, or added to, please get in touch. You can leave a comment, which can remain private, or you can contact me via my profile.
