Nixon Presidential Library and Home
Introduction
On a recent trip to Orange County, CA, I had the pleasure to visit President Nixon's library in Yorba Linda. It is also his birth home. I was surprised by the detail and the wealth of information on Nixon's administration. It was well worth an afternoon.

Background
President Richard Nixon was the 37th President of the United States. His name is linked to the infamous Watergate scandal that lead to his resignation in 1974. However, he was a great statesman and his administration achieved many good results both domestic and international. His legacy should be much more than the Watergate scandal.
The presidential library and museum did an excellent job of covering his full administration. The good, the bad and the personal life. I was very impressed by the size and scope of this museum. I could have spent the whole afternoon there. The outside garden included a fountain and the gravesites of both Mr. and Mrs. Nixon who died a year apart.
Some Highlights...
- Actual Marine One helicopter on display
- Replica of the Oval office
- Replica of the Cabinet meeting room
- A wide screen introduction video with commentary from some of his administration's staff
- A moon rock from the Apollo mission
- Display of the trip that opened China to the world
- the peace accord between Israel and Egypt.
- The original house that Nixon was born in.
Some Nixon Quotes...
"The greatest honor history can bestow is that of peacemaker."
A quote from VP George HW Bush...
Bush told Rather, “It’s not fair to judge my whole career by rehash on Iran… How would you like it if I judged your career by those seven minutes when you walked off the set in New York? Would you like that?”
Summary
Richard Nixon was a complex individual. He had his ups and downs but he served our nation well In time of crisis and division. The library and museum reminds us the totality of his administration.
