How Our Lake Home Has Brought our Family Closer
Our Family Coming Together
My husband has always been a lake person having grown up in a family with 8 children he spent great summers relaxing and playing with cousins around the water’s edge. I was always more of a beach person but since we live near a beautiful lake near the Smokey Mountains I have grown to love his passion. The fun with our children, a chance to have extended family visit and most of all a place to relax and see God’s glory has meant so much to me. I feel closer to heaven whenever we are at our lake home.
The one really special part of being at the lake is it draws the children and grandchildren in the summer months. My sister teasingly calls our lake home the Bed and Breakfast. Yes there are times when I get tired and long for alone time but that does come sometimes too quickly. i always feel nostalgic when the kids leave.
I do have a lot of sheets to wash and dusting, sweeping, mopping, etc when the house grows empty but it somehow seems more therapeutic than my ordinary housework. For one often times my husband is right there with me and second I am more relaxed at the lake with company than I am at our home in the city.
