National Museum of Naval Aviation
Pensacola is home to the National Museum of Naval Aviation, an attraction that is not to be missed. Anyone who's interested in military history or aviation will be enthralled by this amazing facility. An official museum of the U.S. Department of Navy, the museum is located on Pensacola's Naval Air Station, also widely known as the home of the Blue Angels.
The museum houses an impressive collection of over military aircraft and related items, including flight gear, medals, weaponry, and more. Over 150 planes used by the Navy, Marines, and Coast Guard are on display, including several Blue Angels Skyhawks planes, a Harrier, a Tomahawk, and many other aircraft.
You can also get a sense of what it's like to fly on board a motion based Flight Simulator or view The Magic of Flight on the 7 story IMAX screen. The National Museum of Naval Aviation is recognized as one of the top air and space museums in the world.
Historic Pensacola Village
History buffs will greatly enjoy visiting Historic Pensacola Village when visiting the area. Located in the city's National Register Historic District, the village includes nearly 30 historic homes and other buildings from the 19th Century, eleven of which are open for public tours Tuesday through Saturday.
Visitors can enjoy walking through several structures, including in-depth visits to the French-Creole Lavalle House and the Old Christ Church. Additionally, admission to Historic Pensacola Village also includes 45 minute walking tour that covers part of the city's beautiful and interesting historic district, featuring a guided tour of the Barkley House.
