More About Rocky Springs B&B
Set off the main roads in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, you’ll find a delightful getaway spot, The Rocky-Springs Bed & and Breakfast. Once you enter the driveway, moving toward the rear of the property’s history emerges. See, long ago, in the 1800s, it was a unique gathering spot and amusement park nestled in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. Many sought the destination for family fun and respite. If you close your eyes, and walk the grounds, you can imagine the past’s frolic in this space.
The remnants of this historic park are present within the pieces of an old carousel pavilion outside the main house. The tattered seats of the former park rides are on display as a reminder of the historical footprint. These worn relics create a unique presentation of the days from past seasons. Thousands flocked to this fantastic property for momentous enjoyment. These displayed artifacts are a symbol of their nostalgic history.
The nostalgic atmosphere and historical essence draw you in. This evokes memories of the artistry from the era when the Rocky Springs was in its prime. You arrive at the grand mansion, a regal presence on the grounds, fueling an eagerness to explore. Guests are quick to become enchanted by the mansion, stepping into a serene existence. Wonderment arises as the building comes to life. In your head, the enthusiasm from park attendees presents with excitement. Its wrap-around porch and strategic placement of simple wood rocking chairs relay a sense of welcoming and serenity.
The front entryway holds a sense of anticipation, eager to show the mysteries hidden behind the brick exterior. The foyer room is ornate and colorful; a pleasant sitting room sets off to the left with a baby grand piano. You believe if you get close, you might hear a group gathering round the hearth, enjoying the camaraderie, as you find yourself set back to another time.
You’re in awe as the mansion draws you in as you take in the architecture, antique furniture, and decorating in line with the past life of this stately home. It is old, dreamlike, and magical.
The Innkeeper ambiance and more
The gracious and welcoming innkeeper, Ms. Verna, meets you. This sweet lady gives a simple, informative tour and shares the history of the Inn. She offers resources and maps of Lancaster and the many points of interest. Ms. Verna is knowledgeable, warm in her presentation, and eager to meet her client’s needs.
We enjoyed a restful night in the Emma Bell Room, with its unique decor and convenient accessibility. We were overjoyed to experience the convenience of access, sacrificing none of the charm. They offer just one room and a cottage for handicapped accessibility, thus a ground-floor room is perfect for our needs.
In the morning, the wafting aromas whisk you toward the dining room, where you are amid a storybook venture to the time of its liveliest era. This lovely breakfast is whimsical, as you can sense its similarity to how the home functioned in its prime.
The dining room, with its large floor-to-ceiling windows in the offset sitting room, pulls you toward them to take in the sites of the grounds. There is an elegant table setting of China and flute glasses full of orange juice, and enticing fruit parfaits to set the scene.
The presentation is exquisite as you partake in a luscious breakfast of blueberry stuffed French toast with maple syrup, cheesy sausage links, a fantastic egg souffle, and more. After the Innkeeper, Verna blessed the food and fellowship; we shared stimulating conversation, telling stories with one another and learning the stories of the property site itself, Lancaster, and its attractions. Minutes turn into over an hour with gracious and enlightening information on the culture of the Amish.
Ms. Verna was lovely and open in response to our somewhat probing questions as we embarked on our weekend to remember. We spent two lovely days at Rocky- Springs Bed Breakfast and looked forward to a return visit. We recommend this charming getaway spot amid Lancaster, Pennsylvania, and its attractions.
