Architecture River Cruise Chicago, IL

Giants of steel, glass and brick soar out of the shore line casting long shadows on you and your fellow passengers as you glide by on the Chicago river below. Yes, it’s a bit intimidating to be surrounded on both sides by these towers of power but captivating at the same time. On this Shoreline Sightseeing Cruise you will see the Tribune Tower, Wrigley Building and the Willis(Sears) Tower just to name a few.

Each building has a story to tell about who designed it, when it was built, if it's being used for office space, retail shops, apartments or condos. Architects Owing & Merrill, Mies van der Rohe and Helmet Jahn and Skidmore are highlighted during the cruise among others. Our tour guide(docent) provided a history of these incredible buildings in a theatrical story telling mode which made the trip educational and fun.

If you are at all interested in architecture and want to see a different view of Chicago this is a must see tour to take. Photo opportunities are around every bend on the river. I took photos from start to finish during last years cruise. Once the boats are ready to launch this year I will be ready with a fully charged camera and ticket to board.

Chicago is full of taxi's taking people from one end of the city to the other, but did you know they have taxis on the river ways too? Its a great way to travel especially if you live on the river but the he taxis are not just for residents but visitors as well.
