The town is located higher up just between the jagged mountains and the plains just below. Mijas is a well balanced city, displaying some exquisite architectural marvel in form of sugar-cube houses, which are just out of the world. Mijas offers great cultural sense too for the tourists. It is about the right balance in terms of functionality and tourist destination. It is strategically situated inland from the beautiful Fuengirola town which is easily accessible from different corners of the region. The region is quite popular among homebuyers as well as tourists.

Mijas offers a stunning coastline which can be seen from almost every vantage point in the town. The silence of the mountain side and the coastline on the other hand, offers a stunning view. This strategic location and the beautiful beach, makes the region, quite a favored weekend destination for local as well as other tourists who choose to visit the region. The beach is beautiful and offers a peaceful spot to bathe in the sun and enjoy the beauty of the region.

Soak In The Festivities

Mijas has several of its own festivals. If you wish to have a glimpse of the festivities and cultural heritage of Mijas, you need to visit the annual fair in the region which usually starts on 25th July. The entire region gets a new look for the festival, the place is all decked up for the fun and excitement which follows. There is a splendid opportunity to taste the traditional tapas and wines, while you enjoy dancing to the beats of local music.

Saturday nights are always different, especially during the summer months of July till August. The place turns into a venue for some great classical music and wonderful flamenco dances. The central square is the place to enjoy some great food, including some traditional items.
