spring break ideas - spring break trips

Somewhere, there are “experts” who decide the ten best Spring Break destinations in the world, and Myrtle Beach, SC usually finds itself on this prestigious list. Remember: This is for the whole world, not just for the United States! Known as the “Grand Strand” or simply “MB,” Myrtle Beach welcomes the Spring Break college students with all kinds of activities, package deals, room discounts, and coupons for discounts on meals and entertainment. This is a great venue for cheap Spring Break vacations! Consider Myrlte Beach when you're considering spring break trips. Why? Continue reading to find out.

The Beach

For a traditional great Spring Break, ya gotta have a great beach, right? Myrtle Beach has wide, sandy beaches with gentle surf – 60 miles of it! There’s plenty of room for everyone to enjoy great beach activities like playing football or beach volleyball, tossing a frisbee, or catching some rays from the glorious Carolina sunshine.

These long, level stretches of sand are also perfect for another MB pastime – strolling the strand – promenading up and down the beach in order to be seen and to meet new friends.

Lodging

Myrtle Beach offers Breakers a wide selection of lodging choices, ranging from cheap motels to beachfront hotels to oceanfront condos to opulent resorts. MB even provides a special lodging area for students, called "party houses." The party houses on Ocean Drive in North Myrtle Beach are like one giant block party! There’s always something going on in the neighborhood. Best of all, these houses are just a block from lots of nightlife, so Breakers can walk to the bars and clubs and won’t have to worry about driving. These party houses provide a cheap Spring Break for a group of friends, school clubs, or fraternities or sororities to share. With a quick search on the internet, you can find Myrtle Beach Spring Break lodging for as low as $139 per week per person- that’s for a whole week of fun and sun! You’ll also find great package deals online, too.

Daytime Fun

A must-do is Magiquest, where players become active participants in a magical world of mystery and fantasy. You’ll encounter all kinds of characters and creatures on your quest, including wizards, goblins, unicorns, and dragons. It's like being in a life-size video game!

So, what can you do during the daytime hours at MB, besides sleeping? Well, of course, there’s the beach, with its music, dancing, tanning, and just “hanging out,” but there’s also much, much more. You can hit one of the arcades, drive go-carts, do some saltwater fishing, or even ride horses on the beach.

MB also has a Ripley’s Museum and Aquarium that’s neat, along with all the rides at Family Kingdom Amusement Park.

You can play miniature golf or real golf, kiteboard, scuba dive, parasail, snorkel, take a dolphin cruise, ride a banana boat, and jet ski. Rent a pontoon boat for the afternoon, invite a few friends, and create your own “party barge.”

If you prefer some wet and wild fun and your Spring Break is in May, visit Wild Water on Highway 17 South. This fun water park has freefall dives, a giant wave pool, speed slides, tube slides, bumper boats, and a lazy river ride.

Nighttime Fun

Nightlife is usually the pinnacle of the Spring Break agenda, and Myrtle Beach’s party scene is sizzlin’! One of the favorite spots with Breakers is Club Kryptonite, with 21,000 square feet of partying, including VIP sky boxes, a cigar bar, a martini bar, and a gigantic dance floor. It’s been featured on “Wild on E” twice.

Froggy Bottomz provides cool, casual fun in the form of live entertainment. Bands play Top Forty, Latin, and oldies, and everything in between. The action here starts early – at 8 p.m., so you might want to make this your first stop on the nightly party patrol.

Club Boca offers the latest in hip-hop and Top Forty, as well as hot Latin beats and Techno tunes. It’s like four clubs in one, with dual DJs.

Or visit Malibu Surf Bar for a cool tropical experience, including grass huts, a large dance floor, and top 40 tunes with a few oldies thrown in. two DJs keep everybody moving.

The list of clubs and bars in MB is practically endless, and there will be plenty of them within walking distance of your room, so you won't need a DD. Just use the beach as your sandy highway to fun!

Dining

To keep up the energy necessary for partying, you’ll have to eat. With almost 1,800 eateries in Myrtle Beach, this won’t be a problem. Also, many MB restaurants offer student discounts, coupons, and specials just for Spring Break. Choices include fast food, fresh seafood, pizza, steaks, Japanese, German, Italian, German, Mexican, Thai, Indian, Viennese, Chinese, Mediterranean, Greek, Jewish, barbecue, fondue, and good ol’ country cooking at one of the buffets.
