Places to Stay in the Oscoda Area

Oscoda mi. is a small village on the Lake Huron shoreline. With a mere 903 residents according to the 2010 census. This small village is a great vacation destination with many activities and amenities for the adventurous tourist. Everything from camping to equestrian trails. Along with many dining and lodging options. Below are many of your lodging options while staying in this beautiful area.

Camping is not only an option for your family when it comes to lodging, but it is also a great activity as well. In this area there are both rural and developed sites to choose from. Along with rural cabins. Below are just a few options available to you as a camper.

Old Orchard Park is a large campground offering 525 licensed camp sites. Sites include modern, primitive, and waterfront sites, along with offering 3 primitive cabins. As a well-developed campground they also have a Department of Health approved water system, Sanitary dumping stations, Old-Fashioned General Grocery Store, Bathhouses, Playground, and Row Boat/Paddle Boat Rental Program, along with many other amenities.

The Oscoda KOA is not as large as Old Orchard, only having 135 modern and 18 primitive sites. However, the KOA does offer 7 cabins and lodges. Just like any modern campground the KOA offer many amenities you won’t find at a simple primitive state campground. Such as Wi-Fi, Cable TV, Pool, and Bike Rentals among others.

If you decide camping is the way to go but don’t want a modernized campground. There are free and cheap paid primitive campsites throughout the Oscoda area. Like the Van Etten Lake Campground on F41 just west of town which you will have to pay to utilize. If the unpaid site in the woods is more your speed, there are a few sites located west of town on river road. To have access to these sites all you need to do is stop into the local DNR office to fill out your permit.

Camping is not for everyone, in this case here are your many other options.

The Oscoda AmericInn is a well maintained hotel with many options. Located across the street from the Au Sable river. From your basic room too Whirlpool & Fireplace Suites. Just like most high quality hotels all the basics are included, breakfast, guest laundry facilities, and free Wi-Fi.

Anchorage Cottages located on the lake side of US23 offers 7 Cabins on a weekly rate during the summer months. Each cabin can sleep a different quantity of people, ranging from 2 – 10 adults. Some of the amenities include Wi-Fi, Cable TV, and fully equipped kitchens.

Aspen Motor Inn located at the south end of town is a small 22 room, no frills motel. Only offering the basics, free Wi-Fi, a picnic area and cable TV, along with a few other amenities. Only a short distance from the sandy beaches of lake Huron, and all shops that are available in Oscoda.

Barefoot Beach Resort is located directly on the shores of Lake Huron. With 8 individual cabins to choose from. Each with its own unique style. Barefoot offers free Wi-Fi and cable TV. Seven cabins offer two bedrooms and full kitchen, whereas the eighth cabin is a single bedroom. This cabin is more for the couple trying to get away from it all.

Blue Horizon Court is located just south of Oscoda on the shores of Lake Huron. Offering two bedroom Cottages, one bedroom efficiencies and four motel rooms. Like many motels cable TV and Wi-Fi are included but unlike other motels Blue Horizon offers full hook-ups for your RV.

Camp Inn Lodge formerly the Redwood Motor Lodge then named Woodland Pines, has had many renovations and upgrades in the past few years. Camp Inn Lodge being its newest incarnation is a full service hotel offering 38 luxury guest rooms, restaurant & lounge, and heated indoor pool with two water slides. Captains Landing Resort has an offering of 5 cottages a mere 150' from the sandy shoreline of Lake Huron. These cottages sleep from 4 to 10 people. Each cottage offers cable TV, fully equipped kitchens, BBQ grill, and much, much More. Being centrally located you are never more than a few minutes from shopping and eating at any of the many shops and restaurants available in Oscoda.

Huron House Bed & Breakfast is a luxury bed and breakfast offering a romantic setting for any couple. In the morning a gourmet breakfast is delivered directly to your room.
