London - Best Shopping Destination in UK

Updated on October 14, 2010

Why London is known as the best shopping destination in UK

The best shopping destination in UK is London, as it has a variety of shopping places and markets with competitive edge against markets of New York and Paris.

First of all, we will start on with the famous shopping place in London, Knightsbridge. Most of you know that it has been the home of British Haute Couture, and if you are a fashion enthusiast, it is a place for you.

Most famous and prominent departmental stores in London belong to this area, i.e., Harvey Nichols and Harrods, and other than that, it also has well-known and renowned designer's and couture stores as-well-as porcelain and other luxurious items that have highest prices.

Secondly, we can talk about the Bond Street. The Bond Street has been named after "Sir Thomas Bond", a major businessman, during the 17th century. It has two parts, one is new Bond Street and other one is old Bond Street. The new Bond Street dates back to the 18th century.

This shopping destination is well known for many new and old designer stores such as Prada, Fahri, and Versace.

A specific name which describes these shopping destinations is "comparable shopping." Shopping sector in the business world is not a new name in London and there are several malls, which have stores of different big and small brands making shopping very easy under one roof.

The next name comes of Portobello Road Market. As we all know, in the late 1960s, this market was selling Sgt. Pepper costumes and antiques, which were picked up for a famous song.

The south-end of this street is especially for antiques and the mid one is for vegetables and the last one for bric-a-brac.

Now comes the turn of Camden Market, which consists of a wide variety of products such as music, clothing, antiques, ethnic art, collectibles, food and drink, and rugs and kelims.

One can mostly see it crowded on Saturdays. It might be possible most of the times, we can see everything on sale here, but some times, the quality of products can be a bit disappointing.

We can bargain over here easily and some times you can also see hoardings in front of shops where it is written "fixed price".

With the boom in the designer clothing market, it has become a hub of new fashion designers.

At last we can say that London is renowned for its being one of the best places for shopping in United Kingdom and with wide variety and range of shopping destinations it has, it is really not difficult to understand why it is best destination for comparable as well as competitive shopping. So it is best to say that here you can shop until you drop.

Why big stars go to shop in London Markets

Nice Hub. Its no suprise that London is the best shopping destination in the UK, extend it to Europe though and you are quickly beaten by places such as Milan and Paris.

Yes, writing on shopping in Egypt is a wonderful idea, though it is not unexplored but it is rare and rare hubs get more visits.

I agree with solarshingles view that it takes a lot of time and it is really hard to decide where to go and where to shop, as it is a big city and there are a lot more places in London to shop. This hub points out to major shopping destinations perfectly. soni2006 you have created a nice hub. Thumbs up for this.
