The ending of a year in Ontario (photographs)

Updated on September 07, 2012

I love nature and the colours it conjures. I did not have any photographs representing the fall so, on my last trip up-north this year I decided to photograph the season. The above photos is what I got. Let me know what you think please and thank you for taking a look.

Your photographs remind me of the home I had in Hillsboro, MO, before my divorce. I had a 2-1/2 hour commute to work and back home everyday. During the Fall, I really enjoyed the colorful scenery along Highway 21 and always recommeneded the drive for those looking to take in the Fall foliage. Awesome photos.

      Mr. Wesman, cheers!

Mrs. Lynda, the fall is truly gorgeous indeed here. Thank you for your time!

Mr. H.P. That's why I love nature, it is simply beautiful.

Mr. Micky, Merry Christmas and all the best!

Mrs. Amy, 2 1/2 hours commute must have been a pain, at least the scenery was enlightening. Cheers!

Beautiful photos. Looks like a part of Hwy 17 I've driven Northern Ontario hundreds of times as an 18 wheeler a few years back and always loved the drive especially Lake Superior side and all the turn in the seasons.

Winter is especially harsh driving 11 and 17 but been there done that and lived through it. Happy New Year Mr. Happy:9) all the best for 2011 and beyond.

Thank you for the wonderful words Mrs. Darlene, I appreciate them.

Mr. Saddlerider, I do not always keep track of where I shot each photograph. For these ones it was really non-important as I just wanted to capture the season in Ontario.

The last three photographs were taken on the driveway to one of my really good friend's cottage. I love Ontario, it is a gorgeous province!

Thank you for stopping by and commenting!

My wife who passed away in 1998, literally LOVED the autumn. I'm not sure but I think I posted a poem about the Autumn inspired by her love of the season somewhere here on Hubpages.

We had the opportunity to spend two weeks in New England in 1971, and it was the first time I ever saw Autumn! I grew up in the Central Valley, California.

In the meantime, I began noticing Autumn in other places including here in California, and whenever I am in Fresno (my home town) for Thanksgiving or Christmas, I take pictures of trees that are bedecked in golds and reds and not seeing the rest of the city, it looks like you are in New England just because of the particular trees.

There is a LONG driveway here in Yucaipa (Southern Cal, at the foot of the San Bdo Mtns) on a large piece of property that is lined on both sides with ??trees. Liquid amber perhaps, but the driveway looks like a scene in New Hampshire in the autumn. Now interesting, Autumn does not arrive here usually till the week after Thanksgiving and there are spots here in town where the colors are as vivid as New England, BUT you never see an entire mountain side or an entire hillside or an entire landscape of colors as in your pictures.

THE COLORS of Autumn really grab me.

GREAT PHOTO's. What do you have for a camera? Amazing that very inexpensive digital cameras can take some awesome shots. Don't mean to imply your camera is inexpensive!! I love to take photos and I got a Nikon something or another. 200 retail and I got it in a closeout for 107.00. 16 megapixel, and the photos are outstanding. My earlier camera, an Olympus, with 5 megapixel, also took awesome photos. Almost all the photos I post here are my own.

ANYWHO, THANKS for sharing Autumn with us.

Hope it is okay to post a poem as a comment! If not, delete! You won't hurt my feelings, but my wife may haunt you!

      AUTUMN

      Autumn

      Was her favorite time,

      Time of year.

      Colors―

      Ambers,

      Burnt oranges,

      Deep reds―

      Warmed our home

      Which she adorned with leaves,

      Leaves preserved to remind us

      Of Autumns past and present.

      Now,

      She has passed far beyond

Even the Autumn of her own

      Life

To a place not a soul here

      Knows about.

      And yes,

      It’s October again.

      And yes,

      I miss her so.

      "Colors―

      Ambers,

      Burnt oranges,

Deep reds" - I love colours too and love the imagery here! That is why I think the Fall is so beautiful.

Thank You for sharing the poem, Mr. Vrbmft. And thank You for taking the time to take a look at the photos and leave a comment.

      Cheers!

P.S. I shoot with a Cannon, T2-Rebel. It uses film, 135 - nothing fancy. I like my film and full manual settings. : )

Lovely photos and it looks so peaceful. Interesting how the road is a bit "hilly." I hope to visit Canada some day, preferably in the Summer.
