Top 10 Cities To Visit

Updated on March 18, 2013

1. Paris, France

The city of Paris is often known as the city of romance. Paris' museums and monuments are by far its highest attractions including the infamous Eiffel Tower, the Louvre museum (which includes the Mona Lisa) and the Café Procope, which is the oldest restaurant in Paris (opened in 1686). The beaches of France are also some of the most beautiful in the world.

2. Rome, Italy

Rome is the capital of Italy and has many ancient monuments, medieval churches, museums, and Renaissance palaces. Modern Rome is a lively city and has some great restaurants and nightlife. Millions of tourists visit Rome annually, making it one of the most visited cities in the world.

3. Los Angeles, CA

If glamorous nightlife and high fashion is your cup of tea, visit downtown Los Angeles. Spotting celebrities may be a possibility and you'll also recognize landmarks from your favorite film or TV series. L.A. has something for everyone: for the family there's always "Disneyland" and for some tourist and nightlife action, there's Hollywood and Sunset Blvd. And of course, the infamous "Rodeo Drive" for some shopping and celebrity spotting.

4. Cancun, Mexico

Cancun is my all time favorite spring break vacation spot. For great drinks, beautiful weather, beaches, bodies and an 18+ drinking age, spring-breakers know Cancun is the # 1 place to go. The Oasis Hotel is the place to party on the beach during the day. Even if you're not staying there, you can pay $35 and spend all day partying on the beach and witness hundreds of people participating in on-stage contests with the MTV Film crew. They also have 2 giant pools with swim up bars. For nightlife, I'd recommend Pat O'Brien's (which is similar to an outside mardi-gras festival), The City (which is a giant club in Cancun that is fairly new) and Bulldogs (which has an upstairs staged waterfall that you can dance in... if you're a cute girl that is)

5. Miami, FL

Ocean Drive is the most popular attraction in South Beach. It is a popular Spring Break and tourist area, including the famous Club Pearl and Nikki Beach night spots. It also contains several restaurants including the "News Cafe," "Mango's Tropical Cafe" and the MTV-popularized "Clevelander". Gianni Versace's former ocean front mansion is also located on Ocean Dr. My favorite restaurant in all of South Beach is "Oriente" which is located on Ocean Drive and has an Asian/Cuban inspired menu, but no matter what type of food you prefer, you won't be disappointed.

6. New York City, NY

New York City is well known for their busy lifestyle, hip restaurants and martini bars, world class hotels, rock and roll bars and museums. And of course, there's always the infamous ‘Sex and the City' tour, which guides you to all the famous landmarks on HBO's hit TV show. And if you're looking for a great place to see a concert, the Nokia Theater in Times Square and Hammerstein Ballroom are both great places!

7. Cape Cod, MA

Although Cape Cod has a year-round population of about 230,000, it experiences a tourist explosion each summer between Memorial and Labor Day. Cape Cod is popular for its outdoor activities like beach walking, biking, boating, fishing, go-karts, golfing, kayaking, miniature golf, and unique shopping. Provincetown is at the tip of Cape Cod and has also long been known as an art colony, attracting writers and artists. Many hotels and resorts are friendly to or cater to gay and lesbian tourists and it is known as a gay mecca in the summer. Martha's Vineyard is also located right off Cape Cod, which contains the well-known cities of Oak Bluffs and Edgartown. The vineyard is well-known for their beautiful beaches, popular shopping strips and gingerbread houses.

8. London, England

London is the capital of England and one of the top 10 European travel destinations. London is an lively city with many different cultures, exciting entertainment and history attractions. Their top tourist attractions are Buckingham Palace, St, Paul's Cathedral and the Tower Bridge.

9. Amsterdam, Holland

Amsterdam is popular for its reputation as a liberal city. Amsterdam's de Wallen area contains the red-light district and many coffeshops that sell cannabis. Amsterdam's red-light district is located in the centre of the city and is clearly marked on maps. Window prostitution and cannabis are both legal in Amsterdam. Amsteris also well-known for their museums such as the Rijksmuseum, Van Gogh Museum (which contains the largest collection of Van Gogh's paintings in the world) and the Anne Frank House (a museum dedicated to the story of Anne Frank).

10. Las Vegas, NV

As I'm sure everyone knows, Las Vegas is most popular for their casinos. The most famous casinos are located on the Vegas Strip AKA Las Vegas Boulevard South. Most popular casinos include the Venetian, the Bellagio and Caesars Palace. Vegas is also known for their shows such as Cirque du Soleil and their nightlife parties at places such as Coyote Ugly in the New York New York.

Chicago has to be the #2-#3 place in the US to visit behind NYC (tied with San Fran). Amazing time in Chicago!

I like your page but feel Amsterdam should be number 1 and South Beach number 2. You've done a good job summarizing these places. Awesome.

Great list, but Los Angeles is way overrated. LA is so spread out that you'd spend 90% of your time in traffic (even if you were going 3 blocks, you'd probably in traffic). Vegas is great even if you aren't a gambler. Good job!

Pretty hard to make a list of just 10 cities. I think you did a good job though, and nice snippets of info.

I was dismayed that your list didn't include any Canadian cities. Montreal and Vancouver are some of the most beautiful and culturally lively cities in North America.

Paris, Rome and London. They are absolutely beautiful. If I had to choose I wouldn't know which one. Each brings their own gifts.

Cancun is not in Europe or the US. I think SF should definitely be on the list.

I love Cape Cod but SF is better. I think Vegas is one of the wonders of the world. It probably should be number one. I spent 30 days in London and loved it.

Cut Cancun and Miami and ADD Chicago and San Francisco.

So much to do and see in Chicago and San Francisco is the Amsterdam of the states.

I guess everyone has a different opinion about Cancun. Personally, I didn't like it. Way too touristy for my liking, it was hard to tell we were in Mexico. Vegas is on my wish list, so I'm going to check out those links. Thx!

If you like the peace and quiet, head north to the mountains but if you like action then I agree fully with a visit to Cape Cod, Massachusetts.

Chicago should definitely be on the list. It's one of the cleanest, most exciting, most versatile cities in the U.S in ever dimension of discussion. A must visit city.

I agree with Paris, Rome and London. They are absolutely beautiful. If I had to choose I wouldn't know which one!!

However, I didn't like at all Los Angeles. Disneyland and the other pasrks were far too crowded and "too much about nothing". I completely missed the nightlife and didn't see ANY high fashion... maybe next time...

New York? well, that is different. I do not think is beautiful, but I love it! Manhattan is certainly one of my favorite shopping places in the world!

      Good hub.
