I am trying to plan a gift for my parents' 50th anniversary. They enjoy travel but my mother's health isn't as great this year. I want a romantic, nice place with hotel amenities because health wise my Mom cannot go out and hike, ski, water ski, jet ski (get the idea). However, they can do indoor activities (music, massage, etc.). They love mountains and scenery more than city life. Any suggestions??????????? Thanks.

Too late for a Valentine day getaway (and I even don't have with whom to go), but it was a great hub for any time getaway ideas. I liked the Key West one the best. I traveled over the world a lot, but I hardly was anywhere in America. So, before going overseas I'd rather travel over America first. My dream is to visit Alaska.

billyaustindillon, thanks for stopping by. The Napa is a trully great place and one of my favorites, considering a concentration of great restaurants up there. However Sideways took a place in South California, which is also great and right after the movie came out I took a trip to a few wineries showed in Sideways. So, it is another great getaway!

      Thanks everybody for comments.

A great selection of romantic getaways - I really do need to take my wife on one of these - the Napa sounds perfect - ever since Sideways I have wanted to do that trip.

juneaukid, you are absolutely right, there are many romantic ski resorts in Colorado and Utah, as well as in Vermont and California. If I have to choose ski destinations to add to the list, I would choose Stowe Vermont and Vail Colorado. Thank you for your suggestion.

Hello, Wanderlust! I'm not sure I would have pegged some of these as romantic, but they're definitely great getaways. Plus, if one's in good company, then I guess all places are romantic :-)

Lis, thank you for your comment. You are absolutely right, traveling is not a pre-requisite for romance. However, to go somewhere together, to discover and explore new places, have a great time and share memories of that time - what can be healthier for a relationship? I personally love traveling, and I love to explore new places with someone special. Of course, this someone special has to share my passion for traveling!

You are right. The United States have many wonderful places for romantic get-aways. I can personally vouch for almost all of the ones highlighted by you. Let's not forget, though, that romance can be had anywhere, if the two people seeking/sharing it are right for each other.

Traveling is wonderful, but it is not a pre-requisite for romance.
