The Colours of Autumn in an Italian Park.
In words and pictures... Colours of Autumn...the Italian Fall colors in a park.
I was fortunate to visit this park in Italy on an afternoon when the autumn leaves were drifting down on a gentle breeze to form a golden carpet at our feet. The colour of the leaves was so intense in the gentle sun light that filtered through the branches of the trees that I just had to capture the images with my camera.
Visiting An Italian City Park in Autumn.
My photographs of Autumn trees and leaf colour were taken the last week of October.
This park is in Italy, I was fortunate enough to visit it on a day when the leaves had turned to their autumn colours but were still mostly on the trees. If I visited the park after a windy day the trees might have been just bare branches. This is my first visit at this time of year, it is very different in the autumn to the summer time.
In the summer the place is an oasis of shade from the sunshine and heat. Pensioners sit in the shade of the trees quietly talking to each other, mother's and grandmothers walk babies in prams and pushchairs in the shade of the trees. In autumn everyone is on the move heading off on foot or by bicycle to the city or to their destination.
In the summer small children cycle back and forth on the main pathway on little three wheeled cycles that are for hire there. There are a couple of small roundabouts at the side of the main walkway that links the path to the city centre. The park is much quieter in the autumn, apart from the sound of the park workers clearing the leaves that fall on the main walkways and the ducks that live on the pond in the centre of the park.
I loved the colours of the leaves, so vibrant and intense. Although I know that what happens to deciduous trees when they change color in autumn is explainable as a scientific process for me it is still just like a delightful magic trick.
Intense Autumn Colours.
Saturated colours, a painter's palette.
Vibrant intense, flames of winter fire.
Armani and Van Gogh weep
Where is your burnt umber and your gold silk now?
Yet the fallen, fade fast, to be gathered and turned to dust.
But for now their colours 'rage against the dying of the light.'
Leaves burnished as bright as trumpets and cupolas,
Your branches as dark as church coffers.
Salutation and then to slumber, until kissed by spring sunshine.
autumn leaf colors...
Leaf Requiem.
a poem for Autumn.
Beneath our feet like a carpet of gold;
The freshly fallen leaves sigh,
As if remembering a glorious summer's day.
Tomorrow they will crackle,dry
like the pages of an ancient book
being turned and yet fading.
Fallen but not yet forgotten.
